Who's going to the 50 yard line dinner on Thursday

16E, the person who made the comment you reference, earlier engaged the OP on the quality of the food last year, implying that he was one of the people attending. Again, not to speak for the OP, but I saw that as the internet equivalent of reaching out your hand to someone, and when they reach back to shake hands you pull your hand away and say "fooled ya".

I was also taken aback by the congratulations post with the clapping hands, and later by the #richpeopleproblems post.

All I'll say is thank you Scarletwoman for being such a great fan and sure you'll meet others like you are at the dinner.

The only 50 yard line dinners I'll have this year is a Hot Dog in my seat in the center of Section 105 prior to the Michigan St. and Ohio St. games. :D

I am going on behalf of one of my clients....he is the one with the large endowment :sunglasses:
From what I gather this dinner is getting a lot of rave and chatter...some folks have donated more money for the sake of being invited. The true big wigs are not going to this dinner or instead are sending proxies like me....Julie is doing a very good job organizing it.

please note that Julie and our Pres do hold more intimate events for even higher level donors.

Some of the perks high level donors receive are unimaginable! Basically there's nothing that can't be done for you, I kid you not.
Wanna play Augusta or get a table at Rao's? Give enough

Oh Please, reaching a bit there, don't ya think? You should feel guilty about how the thread went. You stating the amount was WITHOUT a doubt what got the "light handed humor" going. Stating how it was out of the league of 99% of the posters on here sure set the tone.YOU put the whole thread onto the road that could give a person with a sensitive reaction to comments a reason to get upset. NOW your trying to back track and blame this "Catastrophe" on some tongue and cheek humor.

And yet, there will still be 250 people there. And none of them will complain that they are owed something because they spent $12 to see Rutgers play Temple in the rain.
And then there's this uncalled for shot at I'm guessing the general posters on here!

Yeah. I apologized to the OP, and said I was partly to blame. I didn't expect the "jokes" directed at the OP for being being able to make comparatively generous donations to Rutgers. Shame on me for not recognizing that a community of Rutgers fans would view her support as worthy of ridicule.

It's a shot at the Richie Rutgers and Maureen Caseys of the world who don't support Rutgers in any meaningful way, and publicly criticize the University.

On a Rutgers fan board, I thought we would embrace the people who support Rutgers and ridicule the people who tear down Rutgers, not the other way around.

RUready -- Your comment seemed to be the one that ticked off the OP. But you apologized to her, and said that you didn't mean any malice. Let's just chalk that up to misinterpretation of how things appear on the internet.

It is some of the other posts in this thread, such as "#richpeopleproblems" that seem to be intentionally malicious.

OK, that's fine upstream

I want to thank Upstream for making amends. You went above and beyond to help straighten out this thread. Thank you.

Anything interesting information on the fundraising front or other topics at the dinner?

One of the big announcements coming out of this is that the funds for the baseball and softball facility has been fully raised and they will break ground the day of the OSU game!

I hope that the OP comes back.
