OHIO STATE TODAY... DURING THE DAY! 100K.
Saturday's spring game in what might be a crowd of more than 100,000 fans at Ohio Stadium.

Urban Meyer's Buckeyes have to replace eight players on both sides of the football after last year's successful run to the Fiesta Bowl and a stomping of Notre Dame. Yet despite the turnover, ask around and the Buckeyes remain one of the favorites to qualify for the College Football Playoff.

Though Ezekiel Elliott, Joey Bosa and others are gone, Meyer hopes a more pass-oriented attack and a rejuvenated, deep defense can help the Buckeyes make another seamless transition to contention.

2016 Ohio State Spring Game
When: Saturday, April 16, at 1:30 p.m. ET

Where: Ohio Stadium

TV: Big Ten Network

Live Stream: BTN2Go

Let's flip that a lot of good night games, like indiana, umass charlotte , and what in particular are you whining about. What is so wrong with that?

so... Ru thinks it makes a better impression on visiting Recruits and FAN base in an empty stadium at night vrs showing an empty stadium at night on BTN,which nobody will watch?
I dont get it and someone ,other then RU just giving into BTN, has to put forth real facts why a night game is better for the program, fan base and recruiting???
If theres no money gained by RU ,whats the reason why the game couldnt be played at 4pm?

Nobody said a night game was better. In fact, I'd bet everyone would've loved to play at 1pm. But, the B1G wanted our game at night to televise it and we're really in a position to say no. Especially as we wait with our hands out for our payday. It is what it is. Deal with it.

Because MSU has their game at 3pm. On BtN and Iowaat 2pm on BTN 2..and then ours would not be on TV, and people would whine that we are the only BTN team not on TV

So you sort of explained why..Wisconsin, Iowa, MSU, all have dibs over RU

And it's not going to be an empty stadium. It will be the same 20k number regardless of time and it's much better for recruits who have baseball and track meets during the day.

So we can be on BTN. I like that it's at night, gives me something to do.

Yeah, I don't understand why anyone thinks this is a problem. I love watching in-season games under the lights, why not the spring game?

I'm sure the 1:30pm start time is the reason they're expecting 100k at OSU.

Wow got really really confused there we have two "Block R" here on opposite sides of the discussion lol, but one is from 2004 and the other from 2015

Is there anyone who actually watches spring games on tv, the excuse of the big ten showing on the network while perhaps correct, is what is wrong about this...spring games are big for recruiting and for fans...if there are more fans that will be in attendance for a day game, that would only benefit recruiting too...I say screw the network and have the event during the time to maximize fan involvement

Die hards who no longer live in the area might watch it but it isn't about the ratings as much as it is about providing BTN with more content (of course it could be recorded but live is always better from the network's perspective). As vkj pointed out, we likely get more recruits to attend a night game which is probably why you're lobbying for the afternoon.

why is it okay for Iowa to be on btn togo? and play during the day?
a 4pm or even 5pm makes way more sense.

why not noon, or 1 pm or 11 am.. what's so hot about 4 pm. I think Abro already stated the reason

Wisconsin is at 100pm..Michigan state 300pm.. whats the big deal if Ru started at 4pm live time ..game was on delay starting on Btn broadcast at 500pm?? Iowa is on BTN to go..who the hell will watch that?

Pecking order...and we're last.
Actually, if you go by ratings which is all BTN and advertisers care about we are far from last. That's the same simple mindset that leads people to ask why we are even in the B1G

Why do you keep on fighting the reality that we have no say. People who are smarter than us think this is what's best for the channel. Move on

Can't we just stop the complaining for at least one topic? A night game is better. Stops all the bitching from people that they miss an afternoon game because their kids have games/activities. Another reason to tailgate and enjoy the day.

All I know is it will likely be a nice spring evening with a liesurely late afternoon, early evening tailgate and dinner followed by a football exhibition by my favorite college football team. Good friends, good food, fine drink, a little football. Call me Pollyanna, but it all looks good to me.

Well I can tell you that there's a contingent of about 25 players from the high school I work at (obviously not all D1 potential) who are all going to the game as a group with coaches and parents, of whom only 3 would have been able to attend an afternoon game because of other high school sports commitments, so I'd say that's a good thing.

Exactly. It's easy for Everyone to find a reason to complain about any start time. However, if part of the spring game is a first chance to show NJ HS players and coaches what the ASh era is about then a night game is a no brainer.

If night games were better poisoned for recruiting why wouldn't the bigger name programs be doing it? I disagree that the night SPRING shame gives more exposure, but don't take my word for it, take it from all the other schools that NEVER do spring night games and have 10s of thousands of fans and nearly a hundred top recruits

Lol, your typos even show how negative you are..."poisoned" instead of "positioned"..."shame" instead of "game".

Apologies for typing on my phone while sitting poolside...my attention is on other things here in south Florida. Clearly you understood my post if you knew what words I meant...it's not like I spelled Caroo or Hermann wrong ;-)

Well sometimes you need to think outside of the box. If I told you a school could build a national program and huge fan base by converting up pedophilia wouldnt think everyone would do it?
As for recruits, it ridiculous to make believe a night game isn't easier for them to attend during track and baseball season.
