Apologies for typing on my phone while sitting poolside...my attention is on other things here in south Florida. Clearly you understood my post if you knew what words I meant...it's not like I spelled Caroo or Hermann wrong ;-)
Guys please lay off Reppin... It's hard for him to type in a dimly lit Hardee's bathroom on his shift break.

Would love to go that night, but have to visit my wife's family for Passover. Guess I'll DVR the game and watch it later...

Pass over the seder and go to the game then tell her that is why that Passover night is different from all others.

While I wish the game was on April 30, this is GREAT to have the game at night. Thousands of people who either work part of early Saturday's or have children involved in youth baseball.lacrosse,Scouts, rugby, soccer, and now, in some parts of New Jersey, spring football will be able to go to the game. I have heard that Rutgers has made a big effort to get the youth and high school players out for Saturday;s event.

Plain and simple.
Rutgers draws ratings on TV. BTN knows that. New coaching staff, excitement, and that will bring in some ratings. I would much rather be on at night and not have to worry about competing with overlapping games.

Let's flip that a lot of good night games, like indiana, umass charlotte , and what in particular are you whining about. What is so wrong with that?
I see many parallels with those programs and ours. We have alot of work to do before we are respected and/or relevant in CFB.

Parallels with UMass and Charlotte? Give me a freekin break. UMass was FCS till 2014 and UNC Charlotte was in the Atlantic 10 till 2013. Neither is a member of a Power 5 Conference. Charlotte isn't meeting the !5,000 attendance minimum needed to stay FBS and UMass had several crowds under 10,000. Both are struggling just to keep their heads above water.

You really wonder where people get these ideas.

So, we will do a Passover Tailgate and ask:

1. Why is this Coach different than other coaches?
2. Can an offense recruited for a Pro Set execute the Spread?
3. Who will the linebackers be?
4. Can a defense that could not stop anybody, rise up and be average?

Good response but you are talking to the wall. That guy is a supreme putz.

USC is playing a night game. If they aren't above it nobody is.

are you sure? Isn't their game televised at 7 pm eastern time? In that case, it's 4 p.m. pacific time. Or am I misremembering the schedule? thanks for any light you can shed on this.
on FurtureFBS..... yesterday they had it listed as 6pm. TBH, not sure if they were using Eastern or local time zones. If they were using eastern, I stand corrected. regardless, night time is still best chance to get recruits on campus.

The USC spring game was Saturday 4/16 and it started at 3:00 pm Pacific time (6 pm Eastern)

This.
UMASS won't be playing FBS football in 3 years. 5000 crowds in Gillete Stadium won't cut it.

Because MSU has their game at 3pm. On BtN and Iowaat 2pm on BTN 2..and then ours would not be on TV, and people would whine that we are the only BTN team not on TV
I like the time. I am imaging that a lot of people like me are able to go now because the kids activities will be done. This time of April is pretty busy with baseball, soccer, lacrosse etc.

Thanks for the responses. My guess is that the best turnout would be for late afternoon, because parents might be more willing to bring their children then than for an evening game. OTOH, kids seem to stay up much later now than when I was a kid, and so maybe it's not a big deal. I'm just glad the game will be televised -- more publicity for us -- even though I won't be able to watch it because it falls on the second night of Passover, and I will be at my sister's seder and see three of my nieces.

I'm bringing 4 kids with me and if it wasn't a night game we would be out. We have 3 soccer games and 2 baseball games during the day.

I've seen a lot of weird complaints during my time on the Internet, but this one is pretty special.

Who the hell cares what time an exhibition scrimmage is? If you can make it, great. Otherwise, watch it on TV.

It's not like it's an actual, real game or anything.

This is a far dumber argument than "Why do we have so many regular season games that start at noon (11am for us central time zone folks)" or my all-time favorite, "which 7th tier bowl game is better for national exposure?"

With a healthy portion of potato vodka and Manischewitz.
