...continuing to insist on playing the 2nd half of "The Bells Must Ring" AFTER the TD and before the XP? The crowd gets ready the....FLOP....song ends. I love the kids out there, I do, but does the band's leadership have even the slightest semblance of a clue? Well, since I know you'll read this, here's the "clue" for you:

Following the TD play "Colonel Rutgers," then after the XP, play "The Bells Must Ring." No confusion, use both of our fight songs, pretty simple, no?

I still think that, in light of the 250th anniversary, the band should play Yankee Doodle after the TD in the way that ND's band plays the Irish jig. I think it would be a cool way to identify with our colonial roots.

What if KFed misses the extra point?

Nothing against the kids. But was it me or TV had to turn up the volume when the band played it's Alma mater after Army's band was loud and clear?

The army band migt be all brass horns and drums...we have woodwinds. I could be wrong. Our alma mater is played a Bit softer that others too.

You're probably right. Like I said, I have no clue about bands and instruments. Thought it was weird for some reason.

LOVE WEST POINT and ALL of the CADETS.Don't like their ALMA MATER one bit.IMO a Military Academy should have a more stirring even martial air about their song.

Traditionally the band played "Viva Le Rutgers Sons" after each score. I don't know when that tradition died.

Man, that was when I was really young, then it was "Colonel Rutgers" for a really long time, until Smith took over IIRC.

Wasn't "Vive Le Rutgers Sons" played after first downs before we switched to the generic "First Down Touchdown Go (insert name) U"?

I was in the marching band from 1980-83. We played it after each score. I don't remember playing it after every first down. Could have changed after I graduated. Alot changed after I graduated.
