Why So Many Leaks with This Search?

The football head coaching search was leak free, except for the report that Golden and RU had mutual interest.
Seems a lot of details available on who interviewed and what is on the table?
The agents of the coaches doing the leaking for leverage?
Or did RU leak the Williams interview for leverage?

I think you are mis-remembering. Cristobal, Schiano, Temple Coach all had stories about them and that is thinking for 10 seconds. Richt, the Miss. State coach, etc......

The lesson that I am sure we will learn is that all if this speculation is off base, just like with football.

...definitely the agents. The agent's goal is to incite a bidding war between Rutgers and the coach's current school.

I'm almost certain Hobbs isn't leaking this info.

Just because there are reports doesn't mean that there are leaks. All a reporter has to do is call up Hurley's people and say "have you met with RU ... why do you (or why do you not) want the job right now? All the other names reported on (outside of Williams) are names that anybody could have guessed about. You don't need any confirmation from the athletic department side at all for this stuff.

Was that the last search, or the one preceding it?
Don't remember any specific reports on any talks with Schiano or Cristobal. Remember there was interest on the board for Rhule, but I don't recall he interviewed. Same with Richt and the Miss. State guy.

Whereas now, purported details of the offer and concerns of the targets are being aired out in the media. That answers the question--leaks have to be coming from the agents feeding the press. Maybe it is a grand strategy by Hurley's agent to dissuade others from interviewing for the job or just leveraging/posturing.

Coaches don't usually get 3x their current salery for 6 years. So I guess I give those articles as much creedance as any post on the board. Not necessarily a leak or reporting. More rumor mongering.
