May try to grab a top St. johns recruiter. I'm sure LSU can throw a lot of money out there to entice him.

Its a tough job there, the SEC recycles coaches all the time. Tough to compete with Florida and Kentucky and now Martin could have SC becoming a force. Vandy is looking on the up as a program. Howland seems to be struggling a bit at Miss St. Bama, Ole Miss, Ga, Auburn are the definition of mediocre. LSU and Mizzou were just plain awful this year and now have new coaches

Give LSU a recruiting shark in the "Dirty South SEC" and they will be just fine. Shoes Vetrone would probably kill it down there with the limited oversight.....lol

Very good hire. He must have told Clemson no, so they kept Brownwell.

Rhoades will probably be offered VCU

Both Will Wade and Gregg Marshall, in their climb up the coaching ranks, had overtures made on their behalf for Rutgers head coach openings. Neither drew serious return interest.

This most recent opening, or when EJ was made coach?

More recently when Wade was at TN-Chattanooga, and years earlier when Marshall was at Winthrop. In both cases, I believe the openings were pre-EJ.

If that's the case then someone dropped the ball not reaching out to Greg Marshall.

That would be our now disgruntled former chair of academic oversight committee and former interim AD Karl Kirschner. It was his call at the time.

Marshall is a good coach, no doubt, but..oh my god..the press and twitter/blogosphere would have field day if the wife of the coach of Rutgers behaved as his wife supposedly did at the game the other day.

Not sold on Wade. I think he'll be coaching in the Sun Belt in 4 years.
Anything is possible, but he was successful at Chattanooga and at VCU. In fact, his first season at VCU his team won more conference games (14) than VCU had won since the 2011-2012 season. He followed that up this season with another 14 wins in conference. This season he had good non-conference wins over Middle Tennessee, Princeton, St. John's and UNC-Asheville.

I think the guy can coach. He'll have a young team at LSU but if it doesn't work out there I'd be surprise that he would fall all the way to the Sun Belt in four years after being successful in the A-10.

And he will have a transfer or two added at LSU.

The A10 was way down this year
Compared to 2014? Yes. The A-10 got five teams in the tournament that year. Last year they got three (same as this season), they got two in the 2015 tournament.

But still, six A-10 teams won at least 10 conference games this season and two more went 9-9. Seven A-10 teams won at least 20 games. That's a solid MM conference.

but its on the decline, Wade wasn't Smart, he benefitted from him for sure as the program was in excellent shape. I see LSU as a tough job and my prediction is Wade is in the Sunbelt or CUSA soon. Not everyone is going to win in the SEC and there has been alot of coaching turnover the past few years. This is a football school first and its not even close

just curious. Why?

He has won at two places, has the 17th ranked recruiting class at VCU this year(2 Top 100 4 Stars). Had a very good recruiting class last year at VCU, including top 100 Jenkins....the former Corey Sanders teammate.

The SEC is a tough place to win if your name is not Kentucky or Florida and now Arkansas, but, this guy looks like a great recruiter and college basketball is about getting g good players.

When you can recruit like Will Wade you'll get another P5 job.
