With 2 min and 30 seconds left in the half....

I hope Oden gets a shot against Illinois/Indiana where he show his skills against someone a little less intimidating. Michigan probably won't matter at this point in his development except as a learning tool. If you can't pass, it makes it tougher to operate the offense and than the other team is really good too. Might as well make mistakes in this type of game.

Shift: I wasn't able to watch the game and couldn't bring myself to watch the replay. In fact, this is the only play I've watched. But that right there is the epitome of what's wrong with our offense IMO.

It would appear that pre-snap Laviano has everything under control. Good playcall. Guys in position to succeed.

Then.... **FART**.
Miketd1, watch the first 5 minutes. The first 5 minutes are great, but it includes the bad trick play that put RU at 2nd and 27.
Against normal teams Rutgers offense should do okay. OSU is filled with NFL talent they probably would beat some NFL teams. I think they would.

C'mon now. That's ridiculous. Every NFL teams has a roster full of guys that would be as good or better than their opposite on OSU. Only Meyer pulling some sort of miracle gameplan might pull something out against the very worst NFL team having a bad day.

I think Miami once set a record with 11 players going in the draft. Usually teams are lucky to get 3 or 4. You might be generous and say OSU has 20 guys who will be drafted at some point on this years team.. and some of them aren't even playing much because they got more senior guys ahead of them at the same position.

Every NFL team has 40+ players who were drafted along with some free agent signings.

Extra Point: I watched the first drive. Some good stuff.

I will say, typically the first series is scripted (notwithstanding the trick play), so he was probably most comfortable with those plays.

And on defense, they usually come out in base to see what you're going to try to do/establish, so the first few passes should be against cookie-cutter defense.

But check out that 3rd down scramble by Laviano. Prior to that, the "go-to" play was to hit Harris on a crosser.

Look how OSU adjusted: On that third down, they had their corner (#3) follow him in man coverage through the middle. They ALSO had a LB (#17) dropping into zone in the middle of the field, effectively bracketing Harris from the other side. The only reason Laviano was able to scramble left was because that LB dropped. If I'm OSU, I'll take that trade every time.

Two takeaways:
1.) You can't run that type of defense against a QB with wheels -- that 6 yard scamper turns into chunk yardage against a QB who can really run.
2.) If teams take away Harris and are stout enough up front to handle our run game with the front 7 alone, we're in big trouble (insert "You don't say?" meme here).
