Women's Soccer Defeats Providence

Here's the goal. Poor job by the keeper, but thankfully we were able to take advantage

Some girls played well, but overall not a good outing. More tomorrow. Still got the W.

Did anyone watch on BTN Plus and was the video feed freezing every 30 seconds or so? I agree, not our best effort but will take the W.

Bound be a little letdown after knocking off #11 Which is why WHAT MATTERS ARE:

- getting the W and

- no major injuries (?)

I have a long time friend who lives in Burlington now, he plays in mens soccer leagues, maybe I'll call him and see if he wants to go see Rutgers at Princeton next week.
Hit one of the bars pregame of course.

He will root for Rutgers too, he doesn't like the Ivy schools, lol

Not much in the way of offense this game. Maybe Providence had something to do with this as they haven't allowed many goals thus far this year. Still we lacked energy & our execution was off. Few good opportunities to score. Nneka was again tough to deal with, but once again put a pretty good look over the frame. As I previously posted, some of our girls played well. Thought Amirah played well but really not too many options for her. Thought Brittany had an off game, & at one time left the game due to leg cramps I believe. Hope those legs hold up.

Tierney Wiltshire, Chantell Swaby, Gabby Provenzano all played very well IMO. Noticeably all on D. Thought Taylor Alymer played well also. Meg McClelland punched out a tough shot & fortunately the rebound was shot over the frame. Other girls had their moments, otherwise not too much positive to write home about in this game. One of the parents told me that the girls had tired legs after the Tenn game & many had been getting leg massages. Be that as it may, they better get untired real quick as they play Hofstra on Thurs & Princeton on Sat on 1 day's rest. Then they get a week before Delaware & then into Big play.

PS-- Hofstra just beat Fordham 6-1.

- Like I said...kinda typical after a big win over a higher-ranked opponent...so good to get the “w.”

- it’s Fordham. Hofstra lost to PSU 6-0.

I agree with Nuts, typical game following a BIG game, no energy, no sense of urgency, hard to get up for a game like this after such a high Thursday. I do disagree a little with rudad, I didn't think anyone played particularly well, otherwise would have been a different result. Need some rest and recovery, mentally, team looks tired. Classes start this week which sometimes clears the mind a little. Still missing some key passes at times, speed of play and decision making. We'll see what happens with a couple road games, toughen them up a little with the challenge of getting away from Yurcak.

Don't think many played particularly well, but thought that Provenzano, Swaby & Wiltshire did--one of the main reason's that the Friars didn't score. Which is it they were tired or they had a let down?

Yes, was also watching on BTN+ and the stream would freeze and jump ahead constantly. I thought the problem was on my end and was driving me nuts. In a way, I'm happy to hear that it sounds like it was a problem with the feed. Thanks for the info.

Then I don't know to what you're referring. Don't need anything to park for soccer games.

If you goto the schedule on the website... For home games it has a link to register your vehicle... I remember seeing something last year about it...

Been going for several years. No registration. Just park. Plenty of room. Cars from all over.

Jerzey devil--see what you're referring to on the website. Don't know what it means, but nothing has ever been required when you go to the games.

Didn't get to see the game but 2 questions for you; 1. Why do you think we seem to be so tired this early in the season and it seems to me we have some pretty good depth do you think there are some of the subs he should be rotating in a little more to give the girls a rest or will there be that much of a drop off?

The beginning of the season is always mentally tiring, coming out of all the work of pre-season, the nerves of those first few games, etc. The energy will pick up, and yes there would be a very considerable drop off, the starting unit is VERY good right now. The minutes this early are good for the starters, they need the conditioning.

Interesting & good insight bees. I did think that Meg Katona looked very good in our pre season games & first game. For whatever reason she has not seen the field since. Perhaps she & Shea Holland can be used to give our backs a bit of a rest. Actually Holland has been doing just that. Agree that even though Mike does sub others we suffer a drop off for the most part.
