RU and UMD currently have the exact same amount of recruits, 18, but based on stars, the classes have totally different complexions. UMD has bought in top flight, elite recruits, especially from their home state but then, based on stars, the talent seems to drop. RU hasn't gotten a 4 star (yet) and hasn't landed a top 10 NJ recruit but is chock full of solid three stars.
Here is the tale of the tape:
UMD
Recruits: 18
4 stars: 4
3 stars: 5
Recruiting Ranking: 24
RU
Recruits: 18
4 stars: 0
3 stars: 13
Recruiting Ranking: 39
Although Maryland's class is ranked substantially higher, I think RU has a healthier class. Its a class that should build depth and consistency rather than one with some potential superstars but also full of players that might not have B1G talent. I also think there is much better chance of RU making up ground with 4 star recruits than UMD getting a dozen 3 stars by signing day.
