Wow...We are really bad at QB

We may have a hard time scoring points this year.
You could be right, but did anyone really know what to expect ? Both offenses got off to HORRIBLE starts and it didn't get better for awhile. I'm sure things will look better in Aug, but will it be good enough for the B1G ? I was disappointed in the simple throws to the outside and how BAD they looked especially considering the offense we're running is built around them. The other thing that apparently hasn't changed is the 4 yard pass when we need 6 yards. I didn't see much of anything that resembled what Houston ran last season. Either the missing guys are a big difference or we have to get better quickly. At any rate I expected a better showing from the offensive in general. Maybe the best is yet to come !!!!

You do realize it takes a bit of time to learn a completely new system?

Coach Ash knew exactly what he walked into at RU. He inherited this team, next year he'll have 50% of his kids playing and by year three the excuses stop. In year 3 he should be expected to have a solid product on the field. Recruiting will be key for both Coach Ash and Rutgers.

Would you say what you saw is exactly what you expected for this game ? I hope the recruits weren't disappointed or that they did see some positives. It is what it is and we move ahead. I guess what really matters is what the coaches think.

1st half the accuracy on the short passes were horrible. 2nd half much better, needs to be that way the entire game.....guess that's what Ash is talking about when he says they aren't consistent.

There were many Houston like plays, pay attention. It's gonna take longer than a month to get the offense running on all cylinders.

Yep

Pretty much what I expected....believe it or not recruits are not that short sighted and realize that it will take a bit of time

Sounds like you guys could use Chad Voytik who is transferring from Pitt.

Will graduate this month and be eligible to play next year as a grad transfer.

Said he will be going to Eastern Kentucky University. I assume he will probably start at QB.

Actually a pretty good guy and QB with about a 60% passing completion average.

Started for us for 1 year but lost the starting job to Nate Peterman (transfer from Tenn).

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Maybe I'll be more clear- you are stupid for your body of work here. Not necessarily the single comment I quoted.
Something about you just annoys the crap out of me.
Beaced- too damn funny
4real- be easy on him, it is rediculous to "re"dicule someone so concerned about grammar. Lol
Thank you for the clarity...here is some advice, hit the ignore button...just like I did

So, anyway, about the game and QB's.

I was also thinking the QB's were having a very rough time but you do have to step back and realize they have only had a very short time to get used to this system.
What concerns me is that CL is still having a hard time hitting the WR's in stride and HR, while having a great arm, was also very inaccurate.

and THIS was the big concern most are calling out. You don't need to learn a playbook to learn to how to throw a good pass. CL was as wild as always and HR wasn't that much better (even with those poor snaps). I think the "get the ball out fast" has them really off. Hopefully that is just time and reps. Balls hitting the ground then 5 feet over the head. Dare didn't seem to have any issues the 1 series I recall he got. And it was a shame they called off his 3rd down play due to the 5 yard rule they had in effect on the QB cause he might have gotten the play off and earned another set of downs.

This is one of the reasons I - and others - have been saying "temper your expectations for 2016 REGARDLESS of a much better coaching staff on the sidelines." We have a LONG way to go fellas.

Who is #19? He looks like a statute in the pocket...he doesn't step into his throws
#19 is Troy Anthony, a transfer from Hobart. Based on how he looked to you, I assume he is a pre-law major.

Seriously man, don't be ripping somebody's grammar and then make a post like this.

I checked Google images for Statute. I think that's what he meant.

Or maybe he meant astute in the pocket? Hobart is a fine school.

First as plum street pointed out, the announcers on the tv weren't making it clear who was in the game at any point but thanks for pointing that out and being an ass in the process. Seriously man, chill out. What does grammar have to do with anything?

I think coach Ash needs to take a step back and look at the soldiers on the field of battle and reassess his battle plan. Implementing a spread offense with his current players will be a dismal failure. Perhaps the more prudent approach might be to implement certain aspects of a spread offense into a pro style offense. Finish the season with a 2-10 or 3-9 record and you'll see Kyle Flood billboards saying "do you miss me yet?"

Yeah, let's install a new offense, the uninstall it, then install it again in 2 years. Uhm, we stunk running a pro-style last year, remember?

I did not think my reference to "pre-law major" would be too subtle for you. I most certainly did not think Knight Shift's follow-up post of the Scales of Justice would be too subtle. I was wrong, twice.

Please re-read your post in which you asked the question about Troy Anthony. Carefully[winking]

A lot of great coaches in this thread....more qualified than Ash and Mehringer. Where were you guys when AD Hobbs was hiring ?

Let's have a spread OC run a pro style offense.....great.

I agree. You're either all-in with the spread or not at all.

And... it's April. It's not September. Practice and more time spent learning the system should help things.

You'll have to dumb your jokes down considerably if you want Reppin to understand them.

I didn't see one guy tonight that would start for Ohio State. Not saying this team is devoid of talent. But it looks like a bunch of back-ups and role players are being asked to play as B10 starters.
Comparing Rutgers to Ohio State in talent right now is ridiculous .The best Rutgers can hope for in the next 2-3 years is to make progress toward being a middle of the pack B1G team.Hopefully, higher level talent at all positions will make league games more competitive and put a little scare in Ohio State,Michigan,Michigan State and Penn State .
