I remember following the national tournament on my computer that weekend. I think I was using Trackwrestling and couldn't grasp what had happened in the match with Pena because it happened so fast. After the match I was like, I can't believe Perrotti just won and is one win away from becoming an AA. I also knew that Taffur had his number and would be difficult to beat. Would this be another year in which an RU wrestler comes up short in the R12? When Perrotti did beat Taffur I was in complete shock; I couldn’t believe RU finally had an AA. As a big RU wrestling fan I couldn’t have been happier for Perrotti and the entire wrestling program. I never did get to see a video of the match. If it’s out there somewhere on the internet please post the link because I’d love to see it.

I have been to the last 40 NCAAs and Perrotti cam out and got Pena in a down leg cradle and boom. Over in 10 seconds and the whole place was in shock as Pena was considered a contender for the title. Then he went out and dismantled Nestor.

If you scroll all the way down on that article there is a picture on the right where Lewis takes down Murphy of Michigan. There I am, old WNG in his red RU wrestling sweats and top giving it the hooray. Guy Piazza is to my left. I had no idea they took that picture.

I remember watching it and saying "wow, this is something special," so I did a ghetto 'record on my iPhone looking at my computer' and I was happy I saved them because I really wasn't sure if the matches would ever come up again. I think I got the most exciting parts of Perrotti's run.

I wonder how the new stalling rules would have affected that match.
I counted 4 or 5 times AP would have been hit for stalling (going out of bounds) with the new rules.
