Yeboah today

We needed to attack and score in the paint more in the first half. Hopefully we make better adjustments against Indiana and bounce back.

I think that was the game plan knowing Illinois was going to pack it in. I suspect he was encouraged to take them. I think that’s fine if in rhythm. You need to make some shots against that defense

I understand but he is supposed to be one of Rutgers best outside shooters which is the reason he was recruited .
A little simplistic to say he was only recruited for outside shooting. He can score inside, rebound, hits FTs...in fact I’d say he’s far from a specialist.

Harper needs to be more aggressive, assertive on offense.
He needs to do the opposite. He tried that to start the game and it wasn’t pretty. Let your teammates set you up or vice versa. This is a good team if they play as a team.

He had a few good drives with Watkins manning the paint the other night, would have liked to see him test Cockburn at least once?

The way he was launching made it seem like it was part of the gameplan for him to let it fly. Maybe coaching staff felt he was too hesitant the last few games and he just needs to get more confidence through shooting.

If he hit one more he would’ve shot 42% from 3 which is great.

This game was so tight that a few more makes from Akwasi and Caleb and Montez, on shots that were open, which was a rare thing for both teams, most of the day , would have had us up 10 down the stretch. Yeboah missed 7 of his last 8, Caleb missed 2 easy shots inside the foul line, and Montez until he hit the 3 to put us up 46-44, missed some makable shots. 2-3 more total makes was the difference between a win and a loss

Yeboah is so inconsistent. He either hits the outside shot or it’s waaaaaaaay off. No in between.

And Harper had something like 4 or 5 TOs in the first half when he was being more assertive. Illinois was getting their paws on everything, and he was sloppy. Right now Harper is a complementary player who has the mindset of a go-to guy (not a bad thing). He’s not going to score 18 ppg like Lamar Stevens, at least not yet, not until his outside shooting becomes more consistent.

I believe he was told to keep shooting if he was open. We had a bad shooting game, we weren't getting good looks. He is one of our best shooters. I would have told him to keep firing too.

Harper??

Also, but my issue was not putting him on the block or foul line extended and letting him drive into his mid range game. He missed a lot early but didn’t get enough shots in the second half. Too much settling for 3 by the whole team

Yeah. Okay you hit your first 2 I can see you shooting the next 2, but when they do not go down, then drive in and pull up for the mid range jumper. Points were at a premium yesterday.

Unfortunately, everyone was off against Illinois with the exception of Young. Even young was 6-14. We just needed 1 other guy to have an average day offensively and we likely get a different result.
