New WR coach Zak Kuhr's message to NJ recruits. Awesome!!

F#CKING LOVE IT "defend this Unbelievable and Prideful State!"

This will take time, but sh!t you gotta love this new culture...

Love his attitude, this is great, but that probably sends a bit of a sour note to the current commits? His we are putting a fence around NJ tweet, is also great and his enthusiasm is obvious. But kets hope his tweets don't bite him in the arse.

Love this guy's attitude. Also, as one who believes that "a rising tide floats all boats," I'm pretty confident that the commits would love to have the best possible players with them on the team.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but I've been hearing this since forever and it hasn't happened yet. Last night he had a thought? 40 years I've had a dream. Maybe we'll build a wall around New Jersey. Hey there's a new idea. </rant>

so what's your point debbie downer? the new regime shouldn't try?
it didn't happen in the past because previous regimes didn't win.

Even if Rutgers ends up having more Missouri and Florida four and five-star tier recruits than those from New Jersey, we will still end up being perfectly happy, if it means winning with integrity.

That said, young people love hype, and I'm not sure one can even comprehend the level of hype that would happen if Rutgers pulled a clean sweep the top of the top NJ recruits in a given year or years. That would inflict massive butthurt on all of the establishment in college football and even the media.

Oh hum. Where have we heard that before? Just repeat it every hour for the next 4 years until the kids get tired of hearing it and sign up.

Sadly I cannot disagree. Actions will speak louder than words.

Sounds good. Hope its comes to reality. The real question is how many HS Coaches in NJ, NY, PA has he met? Does he still need Mapquest to drive to Bosco, St. Peters, & the other top high schools in NJ? I know I'm being difficult nevermind me. Things appear off to an energetic start so looks good thus far!

Yep, you're right. Better to just not say anything positive at all and just say "pretty please come play for Rutgers."

When the new coach sits down with a national championship ring from when he was DC at OSU, that'll make quite an impression...unlike the last staff.

Cut him some slack.... He's from the Midwest. He's not from Jersey. He hadn't been dreaming about keeping Jersey kids home for years like we have.

Can't u be happy that someone from the Midwest is excited to be a leader on our team and tries to have NJ kids to stay home and represent their state.

Damn, I dunno how you would react if the staff was like, "screw NJ kids, we won't even make an effort to recruit them and improve relationships with the NJ HS programs!"

Yes, the fence hasn't happened yet but it was close when Schiano was here, then he bolted. Ultimately, NJ HS kids see the bottom line as, is the team winning and winning against other top teams. When that happens, closing the fence will be a lot easier. For now, I am excited that the staff is gung-ho about recruiting, all the way up to the head coach, cause from certain accounts that did not happen with the previous HC

Mapquest was probably what the last HC used so that may be why he didn't have as good a relationship with NJ programs. This staff knows how to use Siri and Google Maps

Great message but put me down as I'll believe it when I see it. It's been the message from every Rutgers coach for years now and hasn't come to fruition
Exactly. Fails to understand that there isn't a ton of state pride in NJ, a lot of kids grow up wanting to explore other areas of the country. I don't agree with it, but it is a fact. We just need to keep the right kids home, not every kid.

The real problem with this theory is that NJ is not anywhere like the states in the midwest, etc. that have very few competing things to drain the residents away from the state U.
The word "culture" is bantered around a lot and that is what is totally missing for Rutgers.
I heard that a poll recently done had NJ listed as "the most hated state" in the union. Think about that! How the hell can a state with so much to offer be the most hated?
I know Schiano had a big meeting once with the top NJ players and pretty much gave them the same message. He certainly had some success in keeping some kids home, but it is such an uphill battle. I wish him the best in his "dream".

Why didn't previous coaching regimes think of this?

They did and Schiano was able to get some. Flood and his lack of "it" kind of brought it down.

New staff, new attitude, new vision. We'll see if it works. I'm realistic enough to know you'll never get all or even a majority of the Top 10-15 but if they can do better than who they replaced, it'd say good things for the future.

People are complaining that these coaches don't have "NJ Ties." Now they're complaining that these Midwestern coaches want to try to develop those ties by building relationships with the NJ HSs. At least they're trying.

All you need to do is see how that pitch worked in his previous states. But that would be a more flattering 30 for 30 than "Two Servings of Rice" now in production

This is what you are supposed to hear from coaches -
when what you hear from the coaches starts to sound like Debbie Downer -
it is time to put together a search committee - 'cause it is time for your coach to move on.

I don't think you understand my response. I don't understand why the other responses by RU fans were so excited . Did they come aboard recently? The recruits have been hearing it every year. Did you read any of Todd Hunt's articles early in the recruiting cycle? Or the year before?

As for "the screw NJ kids" You should know that that has been the response by many regulars on this forum this year. Not me and not Coach Ash. It's an imperative to get them. So i'm a little put off by the "Last night I had an idea." I hope he had a pleasant night and follows through with his idea.
