0T: did Cal 66 help us with New O Line Commit

Seeing that New old line commit is Swedish and played football in Sweden I can't help but think that somehow Rolf Rudestam aka Cal 66 is smiling and pleased.

Cal was bright fiercely proud of a Swedish background and heritage independent and above all love Rutgers…

Thanks for opening another door

CalRU66, not Cal66.. a subtle difference but one I think he would insist upon.

I miss Cal's insight and passion
He was a true gentleman and a very level headed poster.

Mentioned this in the commit thread. He would be on the plane to Connecticut on signing day!

When I was living in San Diego Rolf and I set up a man date about 15 years ago. There would be discussions of all things Swedish and all things Rutgers He lived in Big Bear up in the mountains of Southern California. It was April and he got about 6 feet of snow up there so he spent the next week on his roof shoveling . And I laid on the beach in Carlsbad California. He was one of the nicest human beings I have ever not met.I hope we eventually become successful in his honor and also for the late great Rc78 ,Steve Tracy.

Rolf and I met twice: once at my oldest daughter's graduation from UCLA (party) ....and once for my youngest daughter's Bat Mitzvah.

But we spoke many times ....especially about joining a new league. He wasn't strident or overbearing. But he made his point that he believed that Rutgers would be best suited from all aspects to land in the B!G.

He was not a fan of the ACC though he almost went to Duke law...then Viet Nam.
Cal was also extremely found of UCLA since his wife Frenchy was a graduate.

He is missed as is Rc78.

I fortunately met Rolf a time or two when he came east for a game - quite a while ago, and I think it might have been at the Rivals or Greasetruck tailgates - can't remember now. And I corresponded with him quite a bit during the Mulcahy lynching.

Wow, looking back, it's already been 4.5 years since he left us.
