2023-24 - team with Cliff, Simpson, and a ragtag crew of guys that couldn’t shoot straight but played good defense, goes 15-17 (7-13), 12-5 at home, 3-12 away and neutral.

2024-25 - team with two top 5 (probably top 3) Lottery picks, best offense in more than a decade, but can’t play defense or rebounding, goes…. 15-17 (8-12), 11-4 at home, 4-13 away and neutral.

This is not possible to have basically the same record with two Lottery picks, is it?

This season was a colossal failure of epic proportions. (Yes, I know you all know)

Two 3rd team all BE and very little around that. Record and ups and downs are much in line with the college bball level we have.

Yes we win the FUTURE potential NBA whatever. But we didnt have enough or the right bball skill to do much better that was done.

Don't remember who but someone posted or a TV analyst said ,before season began ,that nothing was guaranteed and it would be difficult for Rutgers to meet expectations and that freshmen even ranked ones couldn't " succeed " without proven upper classmen.Heck some guys were assuming final 4 or at least sweet 16. Guess we should have listened. There will be more failures than RU before year is out. Remember all those blue bloods that were embarrassed by the St. Peter's of the world. Doesn't ease the pain but that's sports.

Rutgers was circled on the calendar of EVERY team it played this season. Opposing players were champing at the bit to go up against Ace snd Dylan.

Opponents came with their A game all season. Last year that wasn't the case.
Respectfully, I don't think the "It was every team's Super Bowl" argument is going to work for this one.

They'll be better next year, in my opinion, when they get back to playing Rutgers basketball...

It's probable when there is no rebounding or defense.

Bailey and Harper had up and down seasons due to injuries ,opponents double teaming and lack of stamina .The surrounding cast was mostly MAC level talent that showed little improvement as the season progressed. The coaching staff showed little evidence of understanding the short comings in roster formation. The won/ loss records are comparable the last two seasons but the expectations were far different.Next season will probably go back to better defense and worse offense. The results remain the same.

Cant win with a team with the two best players being freshman and not enough NIL money to get the players needed around them.

Time to open the wallets fellas. it is a new era and we need to adapt

How is it possible that a fanbase in the NIL era that wants to win does not get on board when everyone knows it’s how rosters are made. I am specifically speaking of the roster not including Ace and Harper. Besides those two we have freshmen and maybe one Big Ten player. Only bashing these players and coaching staff but avoiding NIL the way women have avoided BAC his entire life.

Mid January and Pike still saying in Pressers that we are figuring things out and "close" more than halfway through the season

My fear before the season started was that true freshmen, playing against 21-22_ year old big ten players, could be tough, over the course of the season

As the season went on, we depended on more than two freshmen , it grew into 4 starters

Yes, our two stars showed their talent, but it wasn't enough to carry the team

In retrospect, we needed Cliff in the middle as a starter

I am very high on Somerville, but we needed 25-30 minutes of the shot blocker
and with that would have come a number of added victories

I totally agree with everything you said, especially your last sentence. If the record remains the same and a top AD is hired, Pikell’s seat should be sizzling next year. No school, even Rutgers should put up with three straight years of losing records and 5 years since we went to the dance. No more excuses.
