Had anyone heard about this? It is in the Tara Sullivan article linked to the tweet.
just saw this... how exciting... keep it going! The link in the Twitter is to a Tara Sullivan story on how Hobbs is absolutely killing it (in a fantastic way).

I looked at Google Maps and I'm not sure what this means. Can someone help explain?Hobbs changed the location of the practice site from next to the RAC to around its corner, aiming to create an integrated look that would include turning an open lawn across the street into a manicured, graded plaza suitable for outdoor gatherings..
We were made aware of it a large fundraiser in Montclair Thursday night
Sorry, It was a complete RU fundraiser attended by Barchi, Lysniak, Hobbs, Ash and staff and at least a dozen ex RU players that are current NFLersWas the fundraiser related to Rutgers? Are we to assume it was a gift from someone who would be involved with the Montclair fundraiser?

Leonard, Westeman, Malast, Greene to name a few
Ah nice....just wondering.....
Is there a reason why they did that in Montclair? An RU person related to the venue?

When we break ground on the basketball practice facility, it will be official. But the early signs are very good. If he can pretty up the RAC at the same time, it will be a revelation.Heard from different, unaffiliated sources. It's official. Hobbs is killing it. Massive upgrade. Massive.
Great job by Hobbs
Surprised the hale center weight room needed 1milllion in renovations already. Anyone know what type of renovations these are?
Also where is rutgersal. He called out alumni for not donating repeatidily but once we get a big donation he goes quite.
Dude..."Wow" factor? ... one million dollars sounds like more than it would cost for Work Out World to setup a new location. Given how Ash has had such detailed high standard plans for nearly everything, I think he is planning something that will make us old farts want to hit the gym once again. Them getting someone to pony up that kind of cash at the drop of a dime tells me we will be amazed when it's done. Having said that, trickle down tells me some Olympic sports are going to be getting some mighty fine equipment handed down to them.New equipment and a new floor. Ash said players spend the most time in the weight room so the facility needed a "Wow" factor.
Great job by Ash and Hobbs for securing a 1M donation for this project so quickly.

You would be surprised. When Penn State renovated their weight room in 2012 the equipment alone cost $600,000. The overall project cost $1.2 million and was pretty much just new equipment, flooring, sound system, TV's and a few wall graphics. You have to remember is that much of the equipment is custom with team logos, colors ect.Yea you can definitely get more than new machines and flooring for 1mil. Should be interesting what they turn the place into. I think they are probably going to turn it from an awesome gym to a top level football factory.

Gotta get to that point. He has done more in a month than any AD we have ever had.

Private parking spots also cost a pretty penny. Think: "Reserved For HuskersAlways" and "Reserved For HuskersAlways, Jr." and it starts to add up.Equipment stuff gets very expensive very fast. I think NU redid theirs when Riley hired a new S&C group and it cost $2.3mil for floor and equipment plus some small stuff.
Bob Mulcahy got a lot done before he was thrown under the bus in a most cowardly fashion for what amounted to a bunch of nonsense.I'm not sure that's a very high bar.

I agree that Hobbs has moved the needle very far in a very short period of time. Hard to believe he has been on the job a little more than 2 months. But watching what he did as Dean of Seton Hall Law School, I am not surprised. I said from the beginning that Hobbs was going to kill it. Some were questioning his hire of Willard when he was temporary AD, but that is looking pretty good (at least this year).Mulcahy got a lot done, primarily hiring Schiano, giving him support, and initiating the stadium expansion.
Grunninger also got a lot done, primarily moving Rutgers athletics from D1AA to D1A, the 1992 stadium expansion, construction of the Hale Center, Soccer Stadium, and RAC, and a basketball final four.
I don't think Cali's point was that our previous ADs didn't accomplish anything. I think he is referring to a change in management style in which Hobbs is driving results across the Athletic Department.
