$1mm private donation to upgrade weight-room in Hale Center

since the Julie issue was raised --no one can deny this quote from the article--"Where university officials were forced to hide Hermann from public scrutiny across her last two years, Hobbs is back front and center, leading a department in desperate need of leadership."

Agree that the switch from Julie to Hobbs was the key to moving us forward. And I like the idea of doing something to improve the appearance of the exterior of the RAC. It is so damned ugly, barely recognizable as an area.
Been saying this for YEARS on the RT, BB an Issues Boards.

It's not an "instead of" thing but more of "for now" thing that will get raves for a very little price tag...

1. better exterior lighting (or at least better aimed spotlights)
2. better landscaping
3. paint the damn thing (we did some photoshop stuff with some different ideas)

ALL 3 could be done in house.

Equipment stuff gets very expensive very fast. I think NU redid theirs when Riley hired a new S&C group and it cost $2.3mil for floor and equipment plus some small stuff.

The costs are unbelievable. I think Bama spent millions upgrading their weight room a few years after it was built. Rumors are ND is about to throw 60-80 million at an overhaul of their entire facility (weight room, training facility, indoor practice field) that was built only a decade ago.

Cost of doing business in college football is astronomical.

Bac is twitching in a corner somewhere. [devil]

actually Im not. Hobbs was what we needed. Unlike the Pernetti tards my first allegiance is to Rutgers and moving it forward. I fully support Hobbs. Hobbs is the right guy to fundraise and fix this basketball mess that was created by Uncle Bob. First order of business is hiring a new coach to move everything forward with the practice facility

This link is interesting...

The first one is linked on big ten build site. The document name has a date in it, which gives idea there's other versions. From there Google search magic to find other versions indexed.

I guess this is the funding "tracker" I was told would be added to the site.

Hobbs is killing it in fundraising. :cool2:

Wow. So for a cool $125,000, we can have the "Ole Cabbagehead Assistant Wrestling Coach #3 Office."

In all seriousness though, that funding tracker is awesome. Money follows money. They need to show that other people are getting on board, and it will be easier to bring more people into the fold. That was the big issue with Julie's tenure...it never seemed as though anything was happening.

Sure can! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Correction- he is the right guy to fix a lot of sports, not just basketball.

Hobbs is killing it because he has a timeline. @zappaa what was it he and Lesniak said last week? he has 2 years to get a CO or the $25M goes away?

"Where university officials were forced to hide Hermann from public scrutiny across her last two years, Hobbs is back front and center, leading a department in desperate need of leadership."

Exactly. The AD HAS to be the face of athletics, and any excuses made during the past two years simply don't hold up.

But I am puzzled as to how any Rutgers fan could keep up with the "moved from I-AA to I-A" crap. We NEVER were in I-AA. The NCAA decided to split Division I in the 1970s and we were forced to make a choice. Despite playing mostly teams that would choose I-AA, we chose I-A. And then didn't do a damn thing to justify it for 20 years.

I look forward to consistent updates on donations via the R B1G Build website. Hope the $ keeps coming in.
