2015 class had 13, 3* out of 25 commits, with one 4*. 2016 looks ++++

So far 2016 has 7, 3* out of 9 commits with a Juco commit that has to be considered a 4* with his offer list. Our lone 2* commit is turning heads at camps and made the Elite 11 so I'm sure he's very close to a 3*. If Kyle keeps up this pace, could we be looking at a recruiting class that surpasses anything Schiano ever brought in? Could this be a Top 25 class,or Top 5 in the B1G this year? Right now, Rivals has this class ranked at #37, and Scout has us at # 34. Noticed Scout counts our Juco as a 4*.which helps big time, but Rivals doesn't count the Juco, so it hurts our star rating, and I wonder why they don't.

I usually go by 247 composite as the best barometer. Various services rate or classes differently. Rivals rated the 2012 class much higher than scout and the opposite was true of 2013.

But to answer the question, this class looks on pace to be Flood's best and a top 3 in school history. That would put us squarely in the real of 30-40 which would meet my expectations.

What I also like is that this year we get to discuss why or why not a 3 star isn't a 4 star rather then why a 2 star isn't a 3 star.

A good point now that you mention it. I`m not losing sleep on not getting 4 stars but confess I would love to see a few more kids enter the "ranked" category of 3 stars.

I think a better way to compare a class to another is to get the avg Rivals number rating.
Example a 3** can be 5.7 or as low as 5.2(maybe lower ?) So the avg for these two would be (5.7+5.2)/2.

247 Composite average star ranking is probably the best way to evaluate a class. In 2014 and 2015, Rutgers ranked 10th and 11th in B1G. Looks like Flood and Co. will finish deep in the back half of the conference rankings again this year.

If we want to make headway in the B1G, 3 stars needs to become the starting baseline for our recruiting classes.

Way to early for any comparison, let's just hope we do better than the last 3 years.

This is true. and I feel that Flood has done that recently, because out of our last 20 or so recruits only one or two were true two stars. All the rest were 3 or 4 stars, or two stars that everyone in the world including the mods here said they should have been three stars like Jawuan Harris or Isaiah Johnson.
