2017 basketball walk on-Luke Nathan

Great get as a walk on. Big man with range. Some strength training, development and see what he can do in year 2 or 3. This is how you develop a program. Attention to detail every where.

Genetically, about 7% of people in the world grow to be 6 10. When someone comes into your program and says I will play for you, and you do not need to give me a scholarship right now, you jump up and down like a five year old.

Jon, 7% is hard to believe. That means one out of every 14 people in the world grow to 6'10". Are you sure that is correct?? I cannot imagine that.

Seems like a slimmed down version of Gettys. If he has good hands, court sense and can pass the ball, with his size and reported shooting touch, he'll get some PT.

That is a lazy comparison and completely ignorant to facts. Nobody actually knows how this kid will play - and he certainly cannot be called a "slimmed down version of Gettys." C'mon now.

Shell (earlier in this thread) not only has seen him play, but has coached against him. Seems like kid will be a project, but could develop into a contributor.

Like I said , he has skills to work with but needs to develop more in the weight room and on the court .

Is he a High D1 player right now ; absolutely not but with our staff , hopefully he can develop into a certain role if need be .

Like thunder said , he was the focal point and if he had better players around him and wasn't double or triple teamed every time , you'd probably let see a different result .

This is the teacher in you, Art. I am not sure if that is the exact number, but just going by what I see, how many people do you see in the world that are 6 10. The numbers are definitely below 50%. I would even say you couldn't go above 20% of the worlds population is not that size. The only reason why we are used to seeing them is because we watch basketball.

Do you think it is higher or lower?Data shows that by country, Germany has the tallest average height. It is 180.4 cm, or above 5 10.

The people above 6 8 are definitely the outliers, and are seemingly in the high minority.

I think 1212 is arguing that 7% estimate is way too many, not too few.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the average male height in US is roughly 5' 9" and the standard deviation is roughly 3 inches. Assuming a relatively normal distribution, that means for Americans, only 2% would be taller than 6' 3". And less than half a percent would be taller than 6'6".

Gotcha. I would totally agree that is is probably lower than 7 %. I picked a number that would not be too greedy.

I should have done research before posting instead of after. The link I provided is pretty interesting.

I stand by my comments. I think he can help fill the role left by Gettys.

I know that if 1 out of every 14 people are at least 6'8" tall that would mean a high school with 500 graduates would have 35 people on average of being at least 6'8" tall. That seems impossible.
