I’m surprised that this wasn’t a last day offer; given that this is the kid’s first season playing football. I would have preferred a scholarship saved for the portal. We don’t have the luxury of taking on 3-4 yr projects

Non factor. Like every team, we’ll have plenty of kids leave us through the portal (some at the gentle guidance of our own staff). We will not miss out on anyone to get this kid. Schiano obviously liked what he saw and did not want someone else to jump in on this kid so he moved now. It’s not going to hold us from anyone else - it’ll keep him from handing out free schollies last minute like Pike did this year to walk ons
