FB Recruiting 2026 Four-Star South Carolina RB Jaylen McGill commits to Rutgers Football

oh boy dunk GIF

Wow, what a huge win for Rutgers Football! Landing a four-star recruit like Jaylen McGill especially over powerhouse programs like Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson speaks volumes about the momentum Coach Schiano and his staff are building. McGill’s explosive stats and versatility as both a runner and receiver are exactly what this program needs to take the next step in the Big Ten. Pairing him with talents like Carter, Coke, and Collier shows just how much this 2026 class is shaping up to be a game-changer.

Commitments like this is how you build a competitive and sustainable program. It’s not just about talent; its about creating a culture of winning that attracts elite players and pushes everyone to get better. With recruits buying into the vision and the staff making big-time connections, the Scarlet Knights are setting themselves up to make serious noise in the B1G. Lets keep this momentum rolling! Rutgers is on the rise!

I'm excited and happy about this verbal from what looks to be an outstanding prospect.
However, having lived through the verbal from Saquan Barkley back in the day....only to see him change his mind and sign with Pedd State...I'll be cautiously optimistic until signing day.

Penn State already has 6 4 stars, and you will be the first to cry when we likely lose to them. This is why a Fieldhouse is needed.
You mean the National Semifinalist PSU. That one?

Has RU EVER outrecruited PSU? Year to year they're OSU, Michigan level. It's called winning big games, like it or not.

It wasn't that long ago RU was finishing 15th or 16th out of 16 in B1G recruiting. Now it's up to 8th or 9th out of 18 in '25. ON3 has RU 7th nationally and 2nd in the B1G in transfer portal roster improvement.

Win and young men will show up.

No, because Penn State fans have always cared about winning football games while our fans have always paid lip service but nothing more.

If the value propositions were equivalent, Rutgers would win most battles hands down because our location is so much more appealing.

We are gradually improving the talent base, but a Fieldhouse would accelerate our efforts.

Answer this Al. Where did PSU get their money for their arena? Where did Northwestern get much of the financing for their Athletic Center and new stadium? llinois for their Golf Facilities? How about Oregon? Huge individual donors is how. I imagine the Ryan family alone has donated north of $750 million over the years to NW.

When are you going to get into your head that Rutgers just doesn't have that. Unless you can find 1 or 2 or 3, the practice facility is only a dream.

"ON3 has RU 7th nationally and 2nd in the BIG in transfer portal roster improvement". I owe an overall apology for whining in October.

Love this back's tape.

PSU as an institution made the commitment to big time football in the 1960s. They provided the financial resources which resulted in consistent winning. The winning over decades has created the strong fan support. RU as an institution did not make the investments necessary, they gave it lip service only. It’s been an uphill fight once RU decided to go to big time football. No established winning legacy has resulted in a less committed fan base.

I guess since we're (likely) halfway to PSU's number somewhere we secretly built half a fieldhouse.
PSU caring about winning football games and "lip service" should never be used in the same sentence.

Actually I feel the Nits started committing to big time football in the 1950s when Rip Engle was their HC .
Getting recruits like McGill will help RU be more competitive in the B1G but RU fan's commitment , monetarily pales in comparison to other B1G programs , especially the Nits , Buckeyes and Wolverines
