Watched game yesterday and Noga Pelec Pelc really saved us. She was 5-7 from 3 point range and rest of the team was 2-23 that is really horrible. There was also a number of times where she was wide open and the girls did not look for her. Question is why is she not playing more as she she is shooting 43% from 3 point range? I have not seen all the games just a few but she has some shot and she appears to be adequate on defense

Coach Stringer talks about Pelc coming off the bench in her post game presser last night. Give it a listen.
RU currently sits in 8th place in the Big 10 for 3 point shooting.

Teams that play up tempo tend to have lower shooting percentages, but hold their opponents under their average scoring. Exactly what RU is doing. RU is first in the Big 10 holding opponents under their scoring average.

Two things at work here:

1. The team is settling for 3-pt shots in their zone offense. CVS was asked about this in presser and blamed herself, said that was one of the things at top of her list to address with team.

2. Both Arella and Calhoun are going through slumps right now. From my vantage point, Arella is forcing shots while Calhoun is just off. Hopefully they'll break out of it soon. Cryor and Wilson can also make 3-pt shots they were just off yesterday.

In the Maryland game, we had 7 different players that hit 3 pointers (we were 9 of 21) and that did not include Zippy, Mael or Sanders who are capable of making 3 pointers, but did not play in that game. Noga is our best 3 point shooter, but IMO her defensive skills are not as good as most of our other guards at this point. I expect them to improve. She gets a fair amount of minutes. She played 24 minutes last night and the most played by anyone was 28. Calhoun has had hand injuries, that is most likely the reason for her struggles so far. I am not sure why Arella is struggling.

I love Noga. Was at an open practice and she could not miss. She actually reminds a great deal of my daughter when she played. A very tough gritty player but she does lack speed on defense. The plus is she gives it her all, will never quit, is like a coach on the floor even though she is a freshman, and can shoot. I would love to see her play more.

Noga is what we thought Kristen Somoygi would turn into.
