I'm almost certain the highest rated player in any sport to sign with RU out of high school is Cappie Pondexter. She was the WBCA player of the year as a H.S. senior. She was widely considered a top 5 prospect when she arrived on the banks.

Crazy fact: echenique was rated the #50 recruit in the country by rivals. #49 was Markief Morris. #51 was Klay Thompson!

Bailey I think only had like 3 offers and one was Tufts University which was not even D-1. I would have to go back to my scrapbook on RU recruits to check. Do you mean Charles Jones? I would have to check on him as well.
The answer to that question usually involves duffel bags full of cash, cars, and "escorts". Or what most people would call hookers.
And Echenique is the only one of the 3 not in the NBA. I wonder where Steph Curry and Draymond Green were ranked...…..

If memory serves,Hinson only played basketball the last couple years of high school making him a pretty big unknown
I will always remember a young sounding fan calling the RU sports knight line radio show, and asking if RU was recruiting him. The announcers never heard about him and asked the caller if Roy was his brother. Basically belittling the caller. Roy did fly way under the radar The kid had it right, Roy turned out to be a fine player
My brother lives in Charlotte-----very close with a family who's son played with Curry in HS.
He saw him play 30 times in HS and still claims if you ever saw him play you weren't sure that he wasn't a reach for Davidson--------but he developed.
You would see ACC HC's at many of his games----after all he was Dell Curry's kid. But nobody thought he could play for them.
Probably cost Seth Greenberg his job when he didn't take him at Dad's alma mater VTech.

I spoke to someone pretty close to the family who said that if he got a Kansas offer it would be over. It is nice to see Pike hegetri g these kids to visit and from what i understand he was impressed with the school but, what I am hearing is that he is a Midwestern kid and wants to stay there.
