6-0

And this is all that matters right now. We all know we've been playing the Charmin circuit, but I would rather be 6-0 right now instead of 3-3 or 2-4 just to show we've played these great teams out there. We are developing the chemistry with Geo and Mamadou and our team needs to continue to get that time in together during real games. I always knew our first test would be FSU and we'll see where we stand.

Our program has been down so long that we need this kind of boost and hopefully when the turnaround is complete you will see RU play a much more competitive schedule and even compete in early tournaments.

6-0, with an average margin of victory of about 27 points and every game a double-digit win (or almost - the CCSU game was double digits til garbage time). Even against cupcakes, that's impressive, at least when compared to teams for the past 10+ years, which have struggled with cupcakes, at times. Pike is building something real and potentially special here. A long ways to go, still, but I'm more excited about RU hoops than I've been since probably the Waters era. Let's hope he can get over the NCAA hump, unlike Gary or Bannon, both of whom came very close.

Believe the Point Guard recruit, Diego Willis, from the Canary Islands and Mexican national team was supposed to be on hand.

Good game to watch, decent crowd.

The Entire CBA team sat in the middle of the student section today.

What is really noteworthy of the win against East Carolina is that Freeman was the only player in double digits yet Rutgers still won by double digits with stifling defense.

Didn’t know that tomato cans were sold in 6-pack. Can Hobbs get the worst OOC next year or is he satisfied to be in the Bottom Five? Looking forward to the first real game.

I have no problem playing a soft schedule at this point in the program's development, but beating these teams is barely worth noting. What's worth noting? How hard they play on defense, their shooting, individual development, etc. But 6-0 -- especially the second straight year of this kind of schedule -- is something you mumble quietly, not boast about.

Hopefully game 7 doesn’t get in the way this year too. Beat FSU!
I think I'm going to sit on the sidelines for this one. I'm pretty friendly with the Florida state coaching staff and I know for five of their players pretty well from covering their recruitment. I'll be happy for whoever wins the game.

Having a winning record at the season would be a huge selling point to recruits as it would be the first since 2006. It's a huge milestone and the next one that's easy to attain. Pike is smart to load up on the cupcakes. He knows exactly what he's doing even if it's not the best to watch.

The consensus seemed to be that ECU was a "step up" and now that we shut them down (including their two outstanding guards) we are relegating them to cupcake status too.

Maybe we're just a tough-ass team that is working hard to get good.

What will the posters say about FSU on Tuesday if the same thing happens to them?

But you will still give us solid injury updates Tuesday afternoon right? ;)

I honestly think the schedule this year is genius. Yes its terrible so far. But thanks to the early B1G slate, we add Minnesota at Minnesota and Michigan State. That's two top 15 teams. Noone in the nation will have those two plus an undefeated Florida State by the 5th of December. And then when we get the rest of the soft OOC we get Seton Hall on the 16th and Purdue after the new year. Two more top 20 teams. What we see is a terrible OOC but what the world will see is double digit win team and a top 50 strength of schedule up until that point. Hell if we beat FSU and just one of those four I bet we'll be ranked in the top 25. This schedule couldn't shake out any better for us.

Some “fans” are just plain ol’ sticks in the mud! If we would’ve struggled with these cupcakes we would be sucky. If we go undefeated, which we did, it’s also terrible. These are the same people that if given $10,000 free and clear would complain it wasn’t $11,000!

We’re two years removed from being horrible in so many ways and a year removed from a great turnaround, so I, for one, am very pleased with where we are and how we’ve played.

The key moving forward is the clear recognition that this team will have difficulty scoring against better competition.Nobody knows if the results will be similar to last season or that Rutgers can grind out some ugly wins and achieve a winning season. It will take a collective effort with different players contributing double digit scoring.

SOS is 348 according to ESPN after yesterday
Strength of schedule will start going down with the Florida State game and with the B1G opponents. The goal for this season has to be a winning record and the very easy out of conference schedule forms the foundation for 16 wins.In large part this is a repeat of last season and hopefully with a few more league wins.

The FSU, Minny and Michigan State games will give us a great indication of what we can expect the rest of this season. Major step up in class from our first 6 games. If we somehow come out with 2 or more wins here, the sky is the the limit. Have to win the FSU game though.

First, I do not think the trajectory or prospects for the season change AT ALL if RU were to lose all 4 of these games - all 4 are expected losses.

Second, I DO agree, that should RU find a way to win 2 of those 4 games, we need to re-evaluate the upside for this season. Heck, I would be VERY happy with even just 1 win of the 4, plus competitive in all, or at least in 2, of the other 3.

Minnesota and Michigan State might be the best two teams we play all year. I disagree that it will be a good indication for the rest of the season.

FSU is the first step.

FSU's SOS is 332. Wonder if that bothers their fans too.

maybe it does but I am could care less about FSU, I care about Rutgers but they are coming off of a NCAA appearance and have proven themselves as a program. RU has a 6-48 conference record in the past 3 years.

FSU at 340.....RU now at 349...we will find out Tuesday if either team was prepared

A 6-48 conference record over the last three years seems like a good reason to schedule some cupcakes. What's FSU's excuse?
