The first half was our best half of the the past 2-3 years, IMO, as we dominated a good PSU team that had been scoring over 90 ppg, holding them to just 33 points, while scoring 48, by dominating the glass, hitting timely threes and FTs. Second half wasn't nearly as good, but we gritted out the win when it looked like PSU might be able to pull out the huge comeback. Loved how we stepped up at the end on defense and scored just enough to win.
Easily Aces' best game from an intensity and impact perspective. 15/15 with 2 blocks and numerous altered shots, plus 4 of his boards were offensive and of those he scored on 3 putbacks. So happy to see him play so well, even if his outside shots weren't falling. And Harper just continues to amaze with 24/12/5 with 1 steal, 2 huge blocks and only 2 TOs.
And finally, the rest of the supporting cast played pretty well, with JWill getting 8/3/4, JMike playing great D on Baldwin(Pike said that's why he got the start) and getting 4 important points, Sommerville and Derkack putting in good minutes with 6/4/4 and 9/2/3 respectively, and Acuff/Hayes coming in and hitting 2 timely treys each. Even Ogbole, who struggled offensively, had 3 boards and 3 blocks. No Martini, which says something.
We outrebounded them 46-32 and we had 17 assists on 29 FGs and were a respectable 8-22 from three (although none in the 2nd half); the bad stats were 14 turnovers and 14-25 from the line, although it was still great to get 25 attempts to PSU's 9. And the RAC was ROCKIN'! Great gameplan and huge win. Now let's win the next 3 and go into January at 9-4/1-1 with good momentum.
