About to get trashed on PTO

And...NOBODY will remember what they said by tomorrow. Just like most (not here...) will have completely forgotten about the last 2 weeks come 2 years from now. I'm so glad that I had absolutely ZERO expectations for either this or next season, since maybe 2014, and am not stressing about things for more than a few hours following each game.

Wilbon is nothing if not consistent. He's crushed us ever since Maryland and us were invited. He's a traditionalist/old curmudgeon in a lot of respects. As is oft repeated around here, win and their comments disappear. Literally - after we beat Michigan 2 years ago it didn't even get a mention on PTI. Probably because of how irrelevant Michigan was under Hoke and Kornheiser/Wilbon would rather talk only talk about Chicago/Washington area sports.

While I'd love to think that's the case, the last two weeks are of epic proportion and so I'm not sure. People still refer to the 80-7 WVu game. I know you meant people outside the forum and I hope you're right. In any event, I'm fine if people remember it - as in "remember those days when we couldn't even get a first down against a top team and now we're on the brink of winning the B1G championship!" One can always dream can't they.

If 3 years from now Ash still hasn't turned this around then WE will talk about that last 10 days. If he has then, guess what, it matters not. [thumb2]

Hoping it will be less than 3 years.
Don't expect to have 80-0 ass whoppings next year or at the very worst in two years.

All the regulars are back hosting their shows today and unfortunately we are the light hearted discussion topic from the weekend. Good day not to watch too much.

Totally agree on all of this, except for one thing. Those few hours are worse than I had anticipated.

Rutgers lost 78-0...that doesnt happen everyday in college football. What do you expect him to say?

Thats why I disagree with people who say whats the difference between 56-14 and 78-0...its a big difference that moves the perception needle.

Only if you have expectations for this season.

I thought this thread was going to be about my alcohol consumption on my last day off.

I emailed the show offering to wager Wilbon $500 to charity on each RU / NW hoops game this year, plus the football game in 2018. We'll see if anyone reads it. That's between-the-cushions change for Wilbon, so I'm not expecting a response.

I also reminded him of NW's bowl record since 2005 (1-6) and ours (6-3). And we had the same conference record in 2014. Last year they were much better, of course.

I like to watch that show, but Wilbon continues to annoy me. besides being kind of racist, he will look for every opportunity to crack on Rutgers. His commentary after this show was even worse than his comments after the Rutgers loss to Louisville in the AAC tourney in March of '14...You should also mention that Rutgers has a 2-0 record vs Northwestern in Football. ( i was at both games ). this might have been over 25 years ago, but the bowl record that you mention is recent..They belong in the league as much as Northwestern, who if I remember had a record league losing streak in basketball and was the football doormat for years...

The loss of Grant absolutely killed ANY chance of us scoring IMHO. Remember I predicted us to get 10 points HOWEVER I stated we would do it with a scripted 1st drive ending in a FG (appeared as though it was...) and a pick-6 (called back hit ground). The extra 20 points (I had 56-10)....yeah that sucks... Unfortunately a combination of their 2nd and 3rd string D's never letting up, same with ST's, and giving them pretty damn good field position the entire 2nd half, let them score easily and quickly. I believe they didn't start deeper than their own 29 the entire 2nd half. Our D was spent. We could tackle guys running right at us. Ugh.

How bad are the teams we are going to beat this season? Starting this week.

I'm going to use Sagarin's rankings and SOS (games to date only) for this one:

Illinois - 89 (48)
@ Minny - 61 (81)
Indiana - 56 (60)
@ MSU - 57 (21)
PSU - 42 (30)
@ Mary - 58 (121)

Linzalonic nice job by you. What I don't get is Oregon gave up 70 and they played Ohio State two years ago for the championship game. No one mentions that?

PTI is the only good show on espn. Getting bashed for the score is deserved. No problem with that

they lost by 49 and scored 21 points, RU lost by 78 and hasnt scored a td in over 8 quarters. Oregon received plenty of ridicule but at the end of the day Oregon is Oregon, their success dwarfs RU a hundred fold and is a nationally relevant program

they lost by 49

Should stop right there. They are Oregon. They have unlimited resources and notoriety and they lost by a larger margin to UW AT HOME than we did flying 3,000 miles across the country to play them on the road. You want a moral victory? There it is. I get it the last 2 games sucked. But this moral victory crap at Rutgers needs to stop. Been going in since we "almost beat Alabama" and tied Florida.

I suppose you are right. I still think the difference between those scores is largely luck (bad luck to not get the random touchdown). But you are right in that is does seem to be different perception-wise. Having a score so lopsided it becomes a punchline IS an issue. Indiana, Purdue, etc....these guys have been getting blown out by OSU and Michigan for years, and no one bats an eye. But no matter how bad we are, we weed to avoid historic type loss spreads.

The problem is that we are not getting any younger. So these 4 and 5 year projects to get one 8-4 season is beginning to feel futile.

Thank you Boogie, Oregon has a lot of money and gave up 70 points.
