Advantage of Ash Puling Double Duty with OSU!

Its not a big deal but I think people are going out of their way to find positives...they barely are going to be mentioning Ash or Rutgers during the game, I think that part is overblown totally. It is what it is. If you asked anyone they would prefer he be here....I mean you are lying if you say otherwise

Durkin is here doing his thing at UMD. Ash is at Ohio State. Who is wrong or right here? I mean Herman did fine at Houston this year staying on until the championship last year, so it's not like it is impossible.

I think if you all hired Ash, you should trust his judgement, or you hired the wrong guy.
Michigan got a crappier bowl game

-----------

actually, no one knows if we are being hurt by him not here yet, or helped by being at the bowl game... we are never going to know if we maybe would have had 2 or 3 great verbals with him here already, so far we have none.... or some recruit sees him at the bowl game and is swayed by that...

I don't like it because I see little happening so far.

all we have is our opinions, everybody has a right to their own.

No, we do know if we would have gotten 2/3 verbals already.....the answer is no.

He's already spoken to everyone he could have just like if he was here "100%". I don't think some people understand how recruiting works.

If anything, the one thing holding us back is not having a full staff yet, but as already stated, that has nothing to do with him bring partially at OSU.

and I respectfully disagree.... we don't know if we had additional benefit, a few verbals, if he were here, working that 20 hours per day.

It's not like he can visit and call kids more. There are NCAA rules you know. That aside, it takes months the develop relationships with players. You're not in reality if you think we could have got a few verbals during dead period from a few texts from Ash.

It's all about perception. Terry Shea took his time coming here and RU fans saw the result. Coach Ash has not been fully 100% committed to RU and we fear history repeating itself.

Our biggest rival hired a coach who left Michigan and Jim Harbaugh immediately and hit the ground running and has assembled an experienced Division 1 staff.

Our wanna be rivals to the north got a new coach and he left his bowl team immediately to hit the ground running.

The integrity/loyalty claim is way over-played. Our coach left Arkansas mid contract to join Ohio State. Many feel he should do the same for RU and hit the ground running.

The idea that Coach Ash staying at OSU provides some benefit to RU is mind boggling. Much rather him here full time 100%.

But we still get some fans unbelievably boasting of an "advantage."

Ok valid points, maybe Maryland is ahead of you right now on hiring.

I am just saying were you a Houston fan RIGHT now, playing FSU in a bowl. You didn't get Herman until the national championship. Are you really that mad Herman finished out the job he was working on?

It's "finishing the job you started" vs. "Being all in"

I honesty can't say there is a right path for everyone, but the right path per for each case. I mean would you rather have Flood stayed on until after Ash was available?

1) Other than seemingly fragile minded fear, what basis do you have for drawing parallels between how RU will perform under Ash vs Shea? Shea took a vacation and Ash is working double time.....does that tell you enoughost about the difference between the two coaching styles?

2) Whyou are you worried about Maryland and Syracuse assistant coaching searches being accelerated 2-3 weeks vs RU? What does that have to do with our prospects under Ash? Other than you having an inferiority complex, this comparison makes no sense. For instance will Syracuse become a powerhouse because their new coach got there immediately while our program will lament over the next 5 years because Ash was delayed 3-4 weeks?

I have to say that this is the first fan base I have ever heard complain and whine about an incoming coach completing his commitment to his current job. If the situation were reversed I cannot imagine the names Ash would be called if he left his job at Rutgers early for another job. Get over it and relax. It is not a big deal.
Get over yourself Buckeye you know damn well if Ash had left and left Fickle in charge you guys would be screaming bloody murder. It's easy to act holier than thou when it's not happening to you. I don't like that he's staying and almost 80% of the coaches in this situation bolt so don't act like it's common. It is what it is and I can live with it, but to come on here and act like O we would never complain is pure bullsh*t.

Very telling that it takes the fan of another team to get it more than some of our own fans do.

Honestly,I do not remember the board reaction when Greg left for the Bucs, right before LOI day. Would be interested to hear from those that do remember.
From what I remember most were shocked that he got the offer. The timing sucked(most were pissed about this) and most thought we were screwed(which came to fruition) but that Schiano needed to take the job as it was an NFL head coaching position. The crème de la crème in the coaching profession. The coaching search now that was a totally different mindset.

Stunned was another way to put it - some were so stunned that it took them a while to get fully annoyed at some of the untidy aspects of the departure - the prospects left waiting for GS's arrival that morning - the depletion of the staff ...

the timing of a coach leaving never seems good.... in our situation, Schiano left just before signing day, and when that happened we lost the
probable verbal of Fuller, but most other recruits were retained...... of course fans are always going to complain....
We had many calling for Schiano to be fired and were criticizing him when he left for the NFL. I think they felt cheated and didn't have the enjoyment of actually seeing him fired.

No need for "Buckeye" to "get over himself."

It is YOU (and other incessant whiners) who need to get over the fact our coach is pulling double duty and will be here full time soon enough.

I wish all the whiners would make a pledge NOT to watch the Ohio State bowl game.

Then let the rest of us enjoy watching that game and discussing the performance of tOSU D, as well as the RUTGERS and Chris Ash mentions during the game.

"Double Duty " ? Only means that each program is only getting 50% of the attention / work that it should be getting.

Let me see Coach Ash sits on his but in the Dead period or learn about bowl prep from Meyer and Schiano. Remember Schiano lost his first bowl and then never lost a bowl game again. In an interview he mentioned how he had to let the players relax and enjoy everything but also to be ready to play.
