AMAZING!! (Link to NJ.com Facilities Story)

The designs will change by the time these plans are enumerated. Wisconsin athletics had a master facilities plan developed in 2005 and they changed multiple times. A lot of the location concepts were the same but the designs changed drastically.

The problem with long term plans is that by 2030 these will be outdated in the big ten, compared to OSU, Mich, PSU, Nebraska... The problem with short term renovations is money....

They are long term high level plans, it does not mean when things are built in the future they are going to be just like they are proposed here.

Really? The bottom half of the Blue Lot, from the existing practice field to the circle, is marked as "future practice fields". The remaining part gets paved.

Ok. hadn't seen that diagram previously.

disappointed that theres no mention of a new indoor football practice facility.

It's 2015. My company has no idea that they will be contributing $11,250 to Rutgers Athletics new facilities over the next 15 years. Gotta love the company match! We could double out donors just if everyone utilizes their employee benefits!
I shocked your company allows for that. The several companies I worked specifically excluded athletics.

Was looking at Google Maps to see where everything is going to be compared to now... and realized that Google Earth view still doesn't have any of the new buildings on Livingston.

Bank of America denies matching for anything athletic related (including the Big10 fund) but will match to the school under general usage. I would assume some of that would go toward this or at least offset part of it. Either way the school gets double my donation every year.

I might have missed it, but are there any pics of what the RAC updates would look like? or was it just that little paragraph listing a bunch of changes they were looking to make (concessions, etc)?

"Louis Brown Athletic Center (RAC) renovation and addition – The Rutgers Athletic Center (RAC) is an 8,000 seat venue, home to the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The master plan proposes to renovate the RAC to accommodate evolving program needs and to address qualitative concerns within the facility. Upgrades to the existing RAC include plans to expand the concourse level of the RAC, increase seating capacity and club space, improve lighting and restroom facilities. The fan and visitor experience is also enhanced by an addition of new ticketing area and lobby and a spirit ware retail shop. The realignment of the drop-off road in front of the RAC building will accommodate walkways routes from the campus core to the RAC and into Scarlet Knight Park. By relocating training functions to the proposed new basketball facility, the RAC can be optimized for the fan experience."

I don't know if this means anything but in the master plan, all new/proposed buildings are in red and the building that is where the practice bubble is right now is red. It doesn't look like the bubble.

Right, but I meant has anyone seen any concept images/pics showing what they mentioned?

They don't have drawings for everything.

These plans can changes including being scaled up or down depending on funding.

Most of the blue lot is eliminated in the drawing & replaced by the top #8 practice field & parking lot.

Is the purple lot or most of it gone too in those pics? Hard to tell what's going on around Werblin.

I'd like to hear more about timeline and cost. That's the most important part. When is that announced?

Building in the Scarlet Lot (or Green Lot) is a bad idea. Why not build it off one of the end courts? It would be cheap to move or re-orient the track stuff behind the RAC.

As for the RAC itself.. build a cantilevered roof over it.. and remove the existing roof and columns and you can then go with wrap-around seating inside the existing structure.. as well as upper deck the end court areas.. and build out a bit while not taking up the Scarlet and Green lots. 15K seating easy.

Very comprehensive plan for all of the campuses in New Brunswick, Camden and Newark. The College Ave Campus will be totally transformed and much more attractive. The cost for all of the improvements in this plan will be well over $1 billion with athletics being only a portion of the costs/improvements.

Given that this vision will be game-changing for the entire University, I don't see expansion in seating at HPSS in the near future. I am an RU football nut, but we all know that the campuses need funding as much as athletics to bring our school into the 21st century.

Not seeing anything about the lacrosse program, which compared to other B1G programs, has by far the worst space. It is embarrassing.

Are there other plans coming out or is this it?

Looks like the Purple Lot is just gone entirely in that drawing.

Sure does. I seem to remember someone saying about 2-3 months ago that the Purple was going to be smaller because of building plans already in the works. Looks now like most, if not all, will be gone.

Parking near the stadium will eventually be much more limited and EXPENSIVE. Better start saving up now lol.

Isn't Soccer in the Fall and Lacrosse in the Spring? Can they both use the soccer stadium?

I think we as a fan base need to realize that the era of commoners parking 3000 feet away from a Big Ten stadium is quickly coming to an end.

I think you're right.

At some point I suppose I'll be transferring my ticket account to the business.

It does not take a engineering degree to see that this plan provides essentially a new facilities for the vast majority Sports Programs on the Livingston Campus

The Baseball and Softball fields are moved.
The Track is re positioned and moved
It also looks like the they are creating 2 Soccer fields with stands and a building adjacent to them. I would think this may also eventually move Soccer to Livingston as well

Current As Per Google Earth:

Come on Cali.

They play in the Football Stadium for Pete's Sake.

The Track and Field Program doesn't have a permanant Field Event (Throws) coach and we are worried about a sport playing in a 52,000 seat stadium?

Would the Hotel/Conf Center be built by RU on their dime or a cooperative venture with someone like Hilton or Marriott?

IU would think that that would be Ideal. Marriott would be perfect as they do not currently have a facility nearby.

The Google satellite really needs to take another swing over campus... that view of Livingston is over four years old. Livingston Dining Commons opened in 2011, and it's just a dirt pit in their image - they haven't even broken ground on the School of Business, yet.

RU alums are cheap or just don't give a damn. No pride. The stadium is a disgrace in its unfinished state. The entrance at the south end zone is an embarasment.

Like it or not the South end zone is exactly as planned. Those of us who were here in 07-08 saw the drawing/plans while the work was going on. The 3 things not finished were the entrance and ramp behind Sect 131, the locker rooms, and the north end zone. Still, it cost around $100 million.

Two alums donated the money for the recruiting lounge or that wouldn't have been done either.

This is a really stupid statement, and seems like you are grasping for straws.

The end zone is not in an unfinished state. The Facade is completely finished. What was not completed was the Locker Rooms and Infrastructure on the lower interior. Something we knew was pulled before construction even began. The entrace technically was completed as it is the place where the students enter the building so far as I know.

Aren't you agreeing with him?

Just two small questions.....projected timetable for each project and at least some idea of related $$$ cost for each project. I am sure there must be some idea for both or is this asking for too much. If I was a member of the BOG these are the first two questions I might ask.

I'm underwhelmed. Purely from the perspective of facilities competitiveness, these plans represent an effort to catch up, not an effort to secure the lead.

Also, new practice facilities are great but there appears to be no plan to do anything about our A-10 basketball arena.
I completely agree, any long term plans that do not include a total redo of the RAC facade are a disappointment. The RAC is by far one of the ugliest buildings throughout the university. Nothing like putting a new practice facility next to something that looks like an Ashley Furniture warehouse.
