AMAZING!! (Link to NJ.com Facilities Story)

Isn't Soccer in the Fall and Lacrosse in the Spring? Can they both use the soccer stadium?

Yes, but the lax team isn't allowed to play on it until the weather gets really nice, which equates to one or two games a year.

Even so, Yurcak is no longer acceptable. Their is no video board, the sound system is weak, and the locker rooms are not locker rooms. They are cement rooms with zero character or even lockers, for that matter.

They would need to be built out if that was the case, and the field would need field turf, which soccer doesn't want. In short, lax is going to need its own facility.

In speaking with the department, the plan was build out new locker rooms under the south endzone. It doesn't solve the field issue, as they will still have to play in the stadium, but at least the locker room would be now. If you compared what our team currently has to other programs, well, I used the word embarrassing. That actually isn't a strong enough word.

Maybe I missed it in the doc, I am going to look again because I was told in a way that more factual than hopeful.

My company will match towards education funding ie Matthew Leydt Scholarship but not to Rutgers Athletics.

Just two small questions.....projected timetable for each project and at least some idea of related $$$ cost for each project. I am sure there must be some idea for both or is this asking for too much. If I was a member of the BOG these are the first two questions I might ask.

I posted the Timeline above in this thread. The Timeline for the entire massive makeover of Rutgers is included in the Plan.

Your donor rep will help you do whatever it is you desire to do. as long as the check is payable to rutgers university, you're good.

Come on Cali.

They play in the Football Stadium for Pete's Sake.

The Track and Field Program doesn't have a permanant Field Event (Throws) coach and we are worried about a sport playing in a 52,000 seat stadium?

It isn't just the stadium where they play games. It is the locker room, which when I tell you is the worst in our conference, by far, it isn't a joke. There are high schools with better locker rooms and meeting rooms.

All this gets the same point as every other sport like football and basketball. Two questions:

Have you seen what our conference mates have that we play and recruit against?
If you were a recruit, what would those vast differences say to you?

To reiterate, I urge you to go look at the facilities of other D1 teams compared to ours.

It is worse than embarrassing, and that is a quote from an associate AD.

So to answer your question, yea, I am worried. B1G schools take more than football seriously. They take every sport they field seriously. Its why they win national championships and we don't.

What is the new red building shown next to the football practice fields? Seems like we keep the bubble but there's a new building shown but no mention of what it is? It's the same approximate size as the bubble. Number 11...

This.

Also, for anyone out there, especially the young grads combining on one account, always speak to your rep. They are there to help and when it comes to your money and donations, they will do whatever necessary to accommodate you. I know they even accommodate multiple company matches on the same account in those cases. It'll help with your priority points in the long run.

Caliknight:

The sad truth of the matter is that there are no funds to fund new lacrosse facilities. Perhaps we can revisit once football and basketball are built into cash cows. Those programs have the biggest $ potential.

You better tell the AD that then. They have told me otherwise directly, or at least there were plans to have something.

When you have a locker room and coaches office that is as bad as ours is, you find the money to get it done now.

Pretty sure there was something in there about a new locker and training facilities over by Yurcak.

You can rest easy. There is mention of upgraded locker rooms etc at Yurcak field. I glossed over this the first time.

My wife's company also does not match athletic donations. Ask your rep, there is a way around this. Don't know exactly what the donations name is but we got her company to match and money went to athletics

When I file for the matching donation at my company, I select Rutgers University Foundation & higher education as the cause & it goes through.

I don't understand why many of you are getting excited about any of the sports facilities. Without funding from the State or the school none of its going to happen. Rutgers goes cheap again

I'm underwhelmed. Purely from the perspective of facilities competitiveness, these plans represent an effort to catch up, not an effort to secure the lead.

Also, new practice facilities are great but there appears to be no plan to do anything about our A-10 basketball arena.

is this really your thoughts, why are you being naïve...you know full well the funding problems...its about feasibility not taj mahals that other Big 10 schools can build. We ARE catching up....that should be a surprise to no one one

the RAC is fine for now, the recent improvements have at least made thinks ok in there

the athletic department is no position to lead in anything for over a decade

***The three of us know this to be the case WHEN the product on the floor is there.

If Eddie can do it, The RAC as we know and remember it could be back.

The "old" RAC atmosphere + the practice facility will do wonders for RU BB.
