Sarcasm?Syracuse has just fired Scott Shafer.
Another big job is opened. And this can effect Rutgers in a major way.

No surprise and I expected it. Don't think it affects us either. That's not a job as good as ours. Off the top of my head, Kansas/ISU/WF/BC/Cuse are jobs not as good as ours. You can say we suck to all hell but the potential of those jobs aren't as good as our and I realize some of those even made BCS bowls when we didn't. But that's a function of coaches who did a nice job at those places, not the attractiveness of our job or theirs.
It SHOULDN'T be as good a job, but is that true in reality? What about:
* Salary, and the salaries of the assistant coaches
* Administrative support
* Financial support of the alumni
* And (both last and least) support from the media
Given those factors, I'm not sure you've concluded accurately.
They will likely be all be about on par at best in most cases. Support of alumni? Have you seen how many fill their stadium compared to ours? There's a reasons schools like BC/Cuse went down in stature as we slowly rose in stature just with some adequate support. As we get more B10 money that support will be greater. It SHOULDN'T be as good a job, but is that true in reality? What about:

Potential Syracuse targets: Scott Frost, Lane Kiffin, Joe Moglia, Joe Moorhead, Mike Sanford & Dave Warner.
Anyone that would be interested in them would also be interested in us. It's still a P5 job so to me it still will be able to attract mid major HCs and coordinators out there. Just like we would and I think our pool would be a little bigger from which to choose.Thayer Evans @ThayerEvansSI 9m9 minutes ago

Have you seen Syracuse's facilities? They have a tiny little stadium that never sells out. That's a crap job, and everyone knows it.
Listen I'm not happy about this, at all, but the only way I can see this "effecting" us in a "major" way is if they hire either Golden or Schiano.
Well that's a different story. I'm just commenting on potential coaching searches at both places and who each can attract. Its not that we're recruiting the same coach
It's if Flood stays, we have competition for our 3 star recruits
Quick, someone email their AD to strongly encourage they hire Kyle Flood
Sarcasm?
The Carrier Dome seats 49,000 for football. HPSS seats 52,000. Their "tiny little stadium" is crappy, but it's not tiny compared to ours, and this thread is mostly comparing their job to ours.
There isn't that much difference between the two. An energetic, hungry Syracuse coach definitely can cause us problems. Don't kid yourself.
But this nonsense about how we have to fire him now to get a coach and not wait until the season is over is just silly. I'm more worried about who is doing the hiring and how much they will pay than I am what day they hire somebody.
It's not likely our coach will be here in a few years. I think he's gone at the end of this year. I've thought that even without any investigation, just on record. Not sarcasm. They hire the right coach, we keep the wrong coach....we can become "even" again in a few years.

I'm not saying we're the top of the totem pole, obviously not, but we're not at the bottom either. I still think they and we can get decent candidates. Like I said it's a P5 job and a P5 job can still attract mid major coaches and coordinators. That applies to them and us.
I just think if they hire the right coach, while we are stuck with the wrong one for now, will have a big impact in the near future.
Our stadium was full because we were winning more than BC and Syracuse. WE are starting to lose like them and expect attendance to go to 25-35,000 if we don't change coaches. They will likely be all be about on par at best in most cases. Support of alumni? I think they are trying to get Yankee Stadium to play all their home games. As someone who lives in central NY, I think Cuse's days of glory in football are well in the past. The facilities need to be replaced and there really doesn't seem to be the money available to do this. In fact, they have actually tried to get the state to help them find a new place to play which I don't think is going anywhere.
They are a basketball/Lacrosse school.
I don't know can you tell me what their donations are I don't know. I don't even know what ours are for football specifically. Let me know the difference if you have links to post. I'd like to see.1. What are the annual donations to Syracuse football vs. donations to RU football?
2. How many Syracuse alums live within 90 minutes of the Syracuse campus? They seem to do well with respect to attendance when they play at Met Life.
3. How much ACC money are they getting between now and 2020 compared to how much B1G money Rutgers is getting. A prospective HC is likely to be at least as concerned with respect to funding between 2016 and 2020 as they are post 2020.
Our stadium has been decently full for a lot of our games and attendance can always turn back around with some solid performance. I wouldn't expect a trip back to Shea times for a consistent period like some are worried about. We just need solid performance. BC has had years where they were really good or solid and I don't remember their attendance being all that great even then. Our stadium was full because we were winning more than BC and Syracuse. WE are starting to lose like them and expect attendance to go to 25-35,000 if we don't change coaches.

I don't have a link but thought it's a valid question. I'll bet it's more than what RU gets.
Met Life? Most of the time as far as I know when they play there it's the visiting team's fans that fill most of the place not them.
I don't know about that. Watching on TV it looks like they do well when they play at Met Life.
I'd be surprised if their football budget is markedly different than ours and at best on par.
As far as alums, I don't know how many live nearby but it doesn't look like many go looking at their attendance. Compare that to ours.
The point I was trying to make is that it's a longer trip for Syracuse alums to get to a home game than RU alums.
ACC money they have been getting that for awhile now and it's been more than us yet I don't see the better results coming from the extra money. Eventually we'll pass that by a lot. Our location is more attractive than theirs for coaching, recruiting, etc..
Short and intermediate term money will be important for a coach who may have fans who start gofundme sites to get rid of him in less than 4 years.
Like I said just look at our rise just with some adequate support vs BC/Syracuse's fall. It's not a coincidence to me.
