Sorry if I missed any posts/news about him, but I didn't hear anything about him in Spring practice. Is he still on the mend?

I am hopeful, but you always hear how it takes 2 years to fully recover from knees. I hope that isn't the case with PJ.

With the emergence of the studs behind him, hopefully it lessens the load a little bit to help him a long.

It doesn't always take two years, it depends on the player and the extent of the injury. Most importantly, the surgery and rehab process has advanced dramatically.

Robert Martin had a knee injury in his senior year of HS but managed to play a significant role as a true freshman...if PJ is healthy then he starts easily, he is the best back on the team.

Not all knee injuries are the same. An ACL tear usually takes about a year until an athlete is back to playing shape, although Adrian Peterson recovered way ahead of schedule, he's just not human. The injury occurred 9/20/14, and I imagine the rehab team is pushing for PJ to be ready for the season opener but it's really hard to predict.

I also wouldn't necessarily say PJ starts easily. I doubt Martin and Hicks plan to give up that easily.

I agree. This looks to be the deepest and most talented at this position ever at Rutgers. Peoples and Goodwin have also shown flashes of talent at times.

PJ is hands down the best back on the team, when he is healthy. Martin and Hicks will play but IMO, a healthy PJ gets the bulk of the carries.

Agree entirely...provided that he is healthy. I liked the freshmen last year, but they were not PJ.

With PJ's history of injuries and the current stable of backs, I say ease PJ into the season with 5 carries here and there each game until the OSU game when you pour him on the defense. That kid runs with purpose when healthy.
