I know the meeting started almost an hour ago. I guess there is no one reporting what is going on or being discussed but hopefully we will hear something over the next few hours.

Most of it is closed door. The first you will likely hear will either be a tweet from RU or some press reports. Info will likely trickle out and it might take some time for the actual plans to leak out beyond what has already been presented as part of the Master Plan.

I think its safe to say - the actual approval of whatever plans are being laid out is a formality. Barchi and Hermann wouldnt have circled this date if it werent already a forgone conclusion.

I think its also safe to say - the school isnt going to allocate extra funds or bonding for the projects. So I doubt there will be a big announcement that construction will start immediately. This isnt the stadium situation where the school was just awaiting BoG approval for the bond sale and then it could start to move forward.

Yes at 1:17pm .......it just came out that the BOG all agreed that lunch was good! Except Christie's appointments did not feel there was enough food as they like Christie usually like to stuff their face when the state is paying for it!

So far the big news is that the Innovation Park (which will go between the RAC and Busch) has a large grant for construction. This is as big for the university as anything that would happen with sports.

What is Innovation Park intended to be?

My understanding is that its going to be a combo of a research park for big name companies to set up shop and a startup hub, for university affiliated researchers to try to commercialize their research. Not anything new in the academic world, but certainly something that could be beneficial to RU.

Also a conference center will be attached to that I think. Right now RU doesnt control any conference space other than the tiny conference center and inn on Douglas.

Speaking of the master plan - I hope they never get the money to do that ill conceived housing renovation on Cook.

Hopefully this is it. Incubators at some schools are very popular and very good for the reputation of the university.

I have some involvement with a start-up that has partnered with Georgia Tech and they have been awesome to deal with. Hopefully, RU can do something similar.
