Art Sitkowski is now a grad assistant for Illinois

Good for Sit.
His college playing career didn't pan out, maybe he will be successful as a coach

Interesting that Illinois and Rutgers both finished 3-6 in the Big Ten last year. Will be interesting how patient Illinois Athletics is with Illinois-native Bielema.

I think they will be very patient and give him a long leash. Similar to Greg's situation.

1. in 2022, he had Illinois at 8-5/5-4, tied for second in the West.
2. Lovie Smith represented their Chris Ash/Kyle Flood lost years. Lovie was 17-19 overall after 5 seasons. His penultimate year, 2019, he went 6-6 (lost in a bowl) and 4-5 in conference. But he never mustered up more than 2 wins in conference in his other 4 years.
3. Prior to Lovie's tenure than had David Beckman, who was fired 1 week before the 2015 season. Beckman did not produce a winning record in 3 years.
4. Prior to Beckman Ron Zook was the HC from 2005-2011. He had a signature season in 2007 (9-4/6-2), but most of his seasons were losing seasons. However, in his last two seasons, in 2010, Zooke was 7-6/4-4. In his final season, Zook started off 6-0, and proceeded to lose 6 games in row and was fired.

I think they will be quite patient.

Maybe Schiano should hire Sitkowski. He has the personality and enthusiasm to be a good recruiter and getting new players comfortable in the new environment.
