I hope you're right. I'm okay with a "stepped up" plan, but would at lease like it to be able to "invest" the additional future dollars into what we owe.

Put another way, sit down with the Conference leaders and say "what do we still owe"? And come up with a payment plan that satisfies both. I'm sure it can be done.

Because football is the driver of these moves. From realignment to TV deals, it's about football.

Exactly. The TV networks aren't anteing up for women's soccer, men's lacrosse, etc. Nice if those programs has success, but football drives the bus. Men's basketball as well, but to a much lesser extent (for proof, look no further than the misguided 'braintrust' of the old Big East and how their failure to understand that point blew-up the conference).
