JP Pelzman reports in the Asbury Park Press that Hobbs said practice facility will open in June 2019.

Actually, he said the goal is to have it open in 2019.

However, he noted that the athletics department chose to soft-pedal its fundraising during the summer, saying Rutgers wanted to "give people a little break from fundraising (requests). We'll be back aggressively fundraising in the fall. People have been really supportive and really responsive to it, so our timeline hasn't changed. Our goal is to open that facility in June 2019."

Upstream,
Maybe I am wearing my scarlet-colored glasses, but Hobbs seems to me someone who will not only meet that goal, but maybe complete it earlier.

funding is always an issue, they havent raised the full amount...not really liking the term soft pedaling fundraising because to me it would seem like they are having a hard time getting donations and have decided to rev it up with a new campaign in the fall

this thing will get built but the incoming freshmen may only see one year use out of it..if that

The amount raised covers the basketball facility.

When will people learn? Phase 1 comprises of three different projects- multisport training complex, Lacrosse, Soccer and Tennis Complex, Football training complex.

It does not cost $100 mil. to complete the multisport training complex which is 1st on the list. Then the Lacrosse, Soccer and Tennis, finally Football. Money is already there for the 1st build, those tax credits do expire.

Aren't the blueprints for the multisport facility already in place or are they changing from the prior concepts discussed? 2019 seems a little long. Also don't underestimate the cost of getting these facilities done. Based on what the last FB expansion cost I wonder if $100MM is going to be enough.

I don't think that there ever were blueprints. Just drawings and proposed floor plans.
