I love the move to Ash. He is hungry, has something to prove and doesn't want to be somewhere else. We rose color the Schiano era a bit, particularly the loaded 2007 team that was outcoached the first part of the season. Schiano'a message got old then Flood killed it. How could we go back to all those Schianoisms that we came to despise? This is a great fresh start.

I think you're wrong. Nobody outside of some delusional RU fans thinks Schiano was an amazing head coach.

Right, that's why Schiano was runner up for the USC & Miami jobs , while Ash was only interviewed by RU and Syracuse.

Stop with the runner-up bull. Did he get the jobs? Did he get any head coaching job anywhere?

You know it's true.
If, in 2016, Schiano does not produce a defense that ranks as high as Ash's did in 2015 and/or if OSU loses two games in the regular season in 2016, will you consider that perhaps Schiano, while being good, isn't God's gift to football coaching?

Fair to say we know how far Schiano can take a team, and we'll find out the same about Ash.

I'm a 40 year ticket holder in multiple sports , and RC alum 1975 , but I still have a shred of objectivity.

Just for perspective, in his first yeat Schinao will not have
Joey Bosa
Adolphus washington
Josh Perry

and the following juniors could be departing as they are potential 1st or 2nd round picks
Darron Lee
Eli Apple
Von Bell

That is a hell of a lot of talent that Ash had that schiano will not

Sssh. I'm trying to make an argument here. Stop introducing relevant facts that could negatively impact my position. LOL

schiano never won anything at Rutgers or in Tampa. The big east was a weak conference and he couldn't beat wvu once all those years. I appreciate what he did and I would've been ok with him back at Rutgers but let's not pretend that he's some sort of superstar. Ash is an unknown but he certainly could prove to be better than GS. If he shows a decent coaching acumen and can recruit well he will surpass Schiano's legacy.

2006 NCAA Coach of the Year. 10-2, An easy dropped pass away from the Orange Bowl (W Va game). Dynamic recruiter. Best Tampa Bay coach in the past 8 years. He's a traitor now, but could have been a terrific coach for RU should he have accepted the RU offer to return. Benedict Arnold. Crap to me , now.

Schiano to tOSU as Defensive Coordinator. What a traitor.

For those that don't know Calvin, he is a true RU fan, now working for Apple in Singapore. btw, he's very, very smart.

Well that settles it ... I think we were all waiting for Calvin Poon to weigh in on the issue. I can rest easy now.

By the way, would you please ask Calvin where Ash is at the moment? We've been wondering.

Where have you seen proof of an RU offer out to him?

I still doubt they wanted him back.

Ash is still working for OSU with Schiano and Luke Fickell, 3 Defensive Coordinators, for the OSU non playoff, non Rose Bowl game. Our commits who came to campus this weekend saw EJ Barthel & Scott Valone, NOT our coach in waiting.

Schiano was the right man for the job when RU hired him.
But by the time he left it was becoming obvious that Greg might not be the man to bring RU FB up to the top level.
Hopefully Ash will be that man
There isn't a reason to bash Greg , but also there isn't a reason to claim Schiano would be a better hire than Chris.
Greg had his shot and though make RU FB a good program , failed to make it a top program.
It's Ash's job to do that now and not be seconded guessed because of the memory of a previous RU HC that came up a bit short after making RU FB a program to be proud of.
