Thanksgiving Be Thankful for Schiano .

He can be the best we've had but still not be above mediocre.

With Uncle Shelby, yes, it's the best he's done but he shouldn't settle for mediocrity.
Always aim high. Try to be OSU and maybe you’ll become Iowa. Being satisfied with a losing coach ensures being a losing program.

Ok. I will take the bait …now you tell me what coach we had here or guy we were gonna hire was above D? Because I must have missed it
So true.
Are people purposely ignoring how difficult it is to recruit top level talent to play football for the Scarlet Knights ?

Yep the are.
The guy isn’t great ; but he’s pretty good for Rutgers . Win Saturday and it’s Rutgers greatest season in its BIG history…..and that’s with 3 one possession losses .
Amazing some wackos want him gone !??? To hire who ?

As I've said before, all one has to do is check out GS's predecessors as head coach at Rutgers to get a better appreciation of what he's done for this program.
Also, those who think RU could ever be elite like Ohio State and Pedd State had better take a look at the season ticket numbers. I'd really be interested in a poll as to the level of support for the Rutgers football program among New Jersey residents.

Well, there is not much to compare, prior to Greg 1.0:
Terry Shea - (1996-2000) - 11-44 record
Greg 1.0 - (2001-2011), his record 87-95
Kyle Flood (2012-2015) - 27-24,
Chris Ash (2016-2019) - 8-32
N. Campanile (2019) - 1-7
G. Schiano (2020-present) 25-33, overall 93-100, 16 years as coach with 8 bowl games and a 6-2 record in bowl games

If you are comparing Schiano with Shea, Ash, than yea, he's a genius but obviously overall comparison he's probably bottom 25% of college coaches. Look, this season would have been a special one if we didn't have all the injuries, the offense the last few weeks actually looks functional and without the injuries on Defense, we could have one 2-3 more games, should have won 2-3 more games.

Next year is going to be a tougher schedule but your also going to have the offense back (of course no KM, let's see who we replace him with), let's see how we do in the Portal, but next year will be much tougher role and see how Schiano does or does the new AD wants to make a change to bring his guy in.

College football is not an easy gig. Just ask Florida State, Stanford, Utah, Kentucky, UCLA, Arizona, Oklahoma State. All have pedigrees that are greater than ours. Yet, none will be going to a bowl.

As long as you expect 1-2 bonehead losses each year and the fact he never wins the big game, he's good for Rutgers being middle of the pack most years. It's still sad that his signature wins were against Louisville and USF in a watered down Big East. 7 wins in the B1G is pretty much max potential most years. He will never win championships or get to the playoffs, but just being in competitive games is fine for now.

first of all he's not going anywhere thanks to the contract and raise he got.
second...just look at what you are saying. being under 500 at 4-5 in the B1G (IF they win sat) without having to play OSU, Mich, PSU, or Oregon, or Indy this year lol. Rutgers greatest season lol. Unfortunately it is. And how terrible is that?
Doubling your B1G win total (IF they beat MSU on the road) is very nice but that's a laughable base to start with. This was a 5-6 win B1G season and he underperformed.
Glad you so love mediocrity because that is what we are stuck with for now.

I didn’t say I love mediocrity . Schiano is mediocre overall , but he’s great for Rutgers
That’s what some of you don’t understand.

Yeah, his gameday coaching leaves much to be desired. He iced the kicker in the Washington game and it worked. Yesterday, it backfired . Schiano has built us a respectable program ,
This is a school with a lame duck president , No AD very little NIL money. Not really sure what many of you expect. We are respectable. Not sure how you could even trust this place or the big donors to hire another coach (they consistently get it wrong , most recently with ash). Be happy and thankful schiano is back here.
Barf!

You left out a couple of other mediocre coaches here:
Dick Anderson (1984-89) 27-34-4
Doug Graber (1990-95) 29-36-1
