Ash on Laviano - Open Competition - Gio Did Nice Things

Don't want to dump too much on Laviano because I'm sure he bleeds scarlet and tried his best. But that said, yeah, we need to move on from him.

What was the gist of the comments? I'm in a car stuck in Rt 18 traffic on my way back to SJ.

If he was my son I would be upset by the criticism but that being said, he is getting a free ride to a top public university to play a game.

That said, CL practices like Tarzan but unfortunately plays like Jane. If you were Gio's parents how would you feel about your son sitting the bench behind a starter who is just not getting it done.

Drew just asked - he said looking for production and leadership. Gio did good job in 2nd half .. Interestingly, he said Gio had good week in practice where Ash said Gio didn't have many reps.

Drew also said open competition

Maybe these guys finally get what we have known for a season and a half

Yea remember last year Rettig's parents flew across the country and Flood gave
him one set of downs.

Seriously, screw the "open competition". Stop wasting practice reps on him. After the last three games I am done being nice about it. We saw his ceiling, move the hell on.

Look.. Anything that doesn't start with "Chris did some nice things" or "Chris is our starter" is progress

Probably the same as Dare and Rettig's parents.

I don't care how you practice. Kid has played 19 games and been abysmal. Well past time to move on. I was actually there last year

That's a rather poor, inaccurate characterization of the transactional nature of an FBS/P5 scholarship athlete's relationship with his team/program.

If Ash had watched film of last year he would have known what we knew. Mind boggling decision to start Laviano for the first 7 games. QB roulette with #2-5.

Not at all. Now if you were talking about a service academy or ROTC then I might agree with you.

I worked as many hours as current FBS FB players do today to pay for my education while at Rutgers while graduating with an Engineering degree. I would have killed myself practicing for a track and field scholly but my times weren't quite good enough to run at RU.
