A cross between Wisky and The OSU. Russell Wilson's year In Madison.

Should be fun to watch. Now we just need a QB to run it? Russo, Rettig or CL?

I am telling you the QB from Cranford(Jack Schetelich) would be a perfect fit. He is a legit six two(maybe closer to six three) a buck ninety-five who played in a spread offense and is a gifted runner who has a great pocket presence(great escape-ability) with an strong accurate arm. He is a smart kid who is committed to Villanova, but may start to get 1A looks now after his stellar senior season. For a new coach coming in he is worth a look.

We may need more than 1 qb to run it, lol. The offense isn't the most conducive to qb health. OSU last year. Houston this year had Ward out for a bit.

No matter what system or scheme, QBs will get hit and get injured. Look at the many times those pro set, drop back QBs get hit after he throws the ball... or when they get sacked, esp on a "look out" block.

No doubt but I think with this kind of system where the qb runs a lot more, the probability is likely higher. Mind you that doesn't mean I don't want to run it, I'm just saying it is what it is and we'll likely need a good back up too to be ready. Even Prescott got hurt a year or two ago IIRC and that guy is built like brick house. Injuries are always a possibility with any offense but it's just logical to assume if your qb is running more the likelihood of getting hurt goes up.

Hey I agree that stuff happens. Navy's Keenan Reynolds runs all over the place and nothing happens to him while others pull up lame with torn muscles without getting touched. No matter what scheme, just put the kids in the position to compete and hope for the best.

Yeah but Reynolds is Superman especially with that aircraft carrier on his helmet!

i agree with you. my speculation is that Ash is going to run a system very similar to what Meyer is running at OSU. the ideal QB type is JT Barrett. i am guessing that he is going to look for an athletic and mobile QBs and more than one. here is the reason why.

as Meyer was putting together his NC staff last year he picked Tom Herman after studying what he wanted to fix from his offense he used at Florida. Herman comes from the power O spread school of thought. he got plucked from Iowa State. after Tebow graduated, UF team didn't do well. tebow had a decent size. Meyer realized that a system that is too vested on a single QB is not enough to contend for an NC. even at UF, you cannot get the perfect QB that fits your system every year. OSU running with Miller, Barrett and Jones is not an accident. it is a Meyer specific design. Meyer wanted to understand the Ducks system. he said that before the 2014 season, he knew enough about the Ducks O that he can even call their plays. so he took his base power O that is similar to Malzahn's and Chad Morris's of the world and put some wrinkles. inside zone read type of plays. then they lost to Vtech. the hokies came to play. their bear D worked. so, Herman and Meyer got to work and decided to add sweeps very similar to the Duck's plays. well, the rest is history. the point is, their system is designed to run with multiple athletic QBs in an up tempo schemes. i would guess Ash would run a similar scheme with his wrinkles.

we will find out soon who Ash hires as OC, but my guess is that he is going to bring someone like Ryan Day from Eagles. Ryan played for Chip Kelly at New Hampshire. power o is now ran by many teams and still effective. the trick is to get someone who can understand Ash's wrinkles on top of the power o. interesting days ahead.

Ryan Day from the Eagles would be a homerun hire. But he left college for the nfl and his old coach. Not sure Ash can wait around a month for the nfl season to end to find a coordinator

That's true in terms of leaving for the NFL. Homerun? Looking at the stats of his BC offenses and Temple, they didn't seem so great. Offenses ranked in the 80s, 90s.

I still like Eddie Gran from Cincy and outside of a big name like Lincoln Riley I haven't seen a name brought up that has performed as well. He's coaching at a school in the same state so that made me think there might be some realistic connection there and he's only making 350K so not unaffordable either whether those rumors of opening the wallet are true or not. He's coached at FSU and now in the midwest so possibly good ties for recruiting.

Ash didn't trip into a HC position like our previous coach. He's been preparing for this opportunity for a long time and I'm sure he's got people in mind. Unpreparedness will never be an issue with this guy.

Whatever Ash's offensive philosophy is, it had better involve removing the 5 yard pass on 3rd and 10 from the playbook. It should also involve an OL that comes off the ball and actually blocks people. There has been too much of the former and not enough of the latter in the RU offense.
