Ash's Offense Will Not Require a Running QB

It's not required but it is ideal. We will see exactly what he wants when HIS first QB offer goes out.

You HAVE to play the cards you are dealt with. He will play the best QB that we currently have or will get soon. I don't think he would force our current QBs or Russo (if he comes here) to run if they are not suited for that style of play.

Moving forward however, you better believe we will recruit a lot more dual threat QBs.

It looks like the offense Mehringer ran will at the very least open up some lanes for a QB to pick up some short yardage or a first down. Even a pocket passer should be able to take advantage of that from time to time to keep the chains moving and keep the defense honest. While the QB was the top rusher at JMU his year there, that doesn't need to be the case - but I'd imagine that the QB would end up with positive yardage more often than not, regardless of who is back there.

Passing comes first. If he can run too that is a bonus. Running QB's get dinged up more and that's why Pro teams do what they can to protect those guys.

If passing came first Cardal Jones wouldn't have been 3rd on the depth chart at OSU
