Gio can run, throw, and make decisions in real time. If Ash/Mehringer have any sense, they will name him our new starter.

TV commentators pronounced his last name Ra-SHEEN-yo. Surprised me, but however Gio pronounces it is the right way.

Gio plus an off season of conditioning for Oden . Play Lewis if he is really as good as we think he is ( Or redshirt if other two can get the job done). Already excited for the QB play for 2017. Add in Mitchell, Melton and Washington plus the returning backs. If or OL can be at least average to good .,,......................

Disagree, Gio isn't going to be running this offense next year...either hand the keys to Oden and let him take his lumps now and learn to throw and run the offense...or switch to a pro set and let Laviano take snaps under center put a full back in and play a power run with the occasional play action

Not sure we found a QB beyond maybe next week. I would not be surprised if he is the starter heading back home to Minnesota.

Assuming Lewis comes here, he starts from Day one. Gio had a couple of decent throws, but that INT was horrible and missing a wide open Patton near the endzone was also pretty bad. Yes, he's a better runner than Laviano, but so are Oden and Allen. I still want to see what Oden can do when given starter's minutes and freedom to throw.

How can you give the keys to Lewis when you have Oden? I'm sure you said the same thing before the season started that Oden would be the day 1 starter this year and then realized he isn't ready to lead a college football offense...how do you know Lewis won't have the same issues as a freshman that Oden has now?

Until Oden proves (or coach lets him prove) that he can pass I will take GIo. Will be nice to be able to pick from Gio, a better conditioned Oden, and Lewis.

Never said the same thing about Oden, because I could see from the films (and reports from people who should know) that he was talented, but raw. I do think he's our best running QB and think he can be a decent to good passer, so I wish he would get more reps. Lewis is much more polished, IMO, and I think he'd start here next year. Of course, I could be wrong...

In Italian that is the pronunciation.

sci in Italian sounds like she in English.

gn is like ny in canyon or n with ~ in Spanish.

Re-she-nyo

You are very wrong on the INT. The INT was on the receivers all the way. I know it did not look that way--but Ray Lucas nailed it, and Ash or Mehringer said same thing in their presser.

you never cease to amaze

With a name like Gio I have to imagine he wants fans to have his name right! Also as an Italian American it makes me nuts when even my own people cannot get these names correctly.

Well, there is classic Italian, 'merigon' Italian, and Italian dialects, so...

Anyone with two eyes could tell Gio should be playing, but I wouldn't assume anything with this coaching staff...

Can't Odin be lifting every day to build some muscle ??? Why is he still soo skinny? Lift man lift !!

Switch to a pro set? Do you know anything about football? You do not just switch a playbook mid season. That is months and months of work.

The CL Nightmare is over at least.

I don't think we will ever see him play again.

Gio and Oden will get a lot more reps in practice and in game as they are the future.

They said that the QB is open, a reporter ask why would Chris be part of that open competition (since it doesn't make sense for him to even be part of it, since he is the reason to have it in the 1st place). I really think he is done, he wasn't any good in the pro-Set or Spread, he tried but he just will never work out. Listen to Ash and Drew conferences again, they are finally ready to move on.

I agree.
But then I prefer the pro set. And I also prefer anything but the one we're currently "learning/developing".

There's this line from a Bob Dylan tune......"when you ain't got nothing you got nothing to lose."

My thinking is, if this season is a wash then play Oden and give him experience. On the flip-side, Gio gave this offense life and up until this point we settled for the excuse that CL was the starter because there was no one better. If the offense works with Gio running it, we might want to explore that route and name him the starter.

Actually, just watched the replay and it was tipped at the LOS, so yeah, can't really put that one on Gio. Live it looked like he just threw it to the defender.

You just proved your a complete imbecile with this sentence. It doesn't matter the offense, if you can't complete a pass you can't complete a pass. Go back to playing your video games.

For me it is Dante's Italian only. The dialects are dying out, for better or worse.
Some people are just built that way. They're called ectomorphs in terms of body build.
yeah I know that genius . But everyone keeps saying he can't play until he gets stronger. Thus the lifting comment. They are saying they will play him when he is bigger .

Yeah, looked terrible live. That said, considering how few reps Gio has had at practice and this was his first real game action, the offense just seemed to be clicking more with him at QB. He stepped up in the pocket, and made things happen with his legs, instead of crumbling or rolling out and throwing the ball out of bounds. If the coaches don't want to go with Oden, Gio should be the starter going forward.

Well, he'll most likely get the nod against Minnesota a very beatable team. I wish the young man the best of luck.

Hopefully CL is no longer the starter as it is clear we can not score with him at the helm. Post season is out of the question so it is time to plan for next year. Gio may have played his way into the spot. Oden may have a better skill set for the job but I think the staff believes he is not physically ready to take the pounding a full time QB will take so I don't see him starting but he may very well be the next guy in the two deep. Ash will play the seniors, he owes them that for the way they have bought in and responded to his plan, but he might increase the substitution rate so the younger guys get more playing experience. Look what last year has done for the corner backs. They are significantly improved over last year and it is not just press coverage. Experience matters. The younger guys need to get as much as possible.
