Seeing how we played offensively last night in the 2nd half, although we did shoot decently from the perimeter (6-18 from 3) it was the drives to the basket that changed the game for us (49.1% FG overall). We are not a strong shooting team from the perimeter, but when CS and NJ are driving we seem to produce more offense. We also shot 13-18 on FT's which was a product of not only the shooting fouls, but also getting into the bonus by attacking the tin. Driving also helps our rebounding prowess by causing the defense to react and help, leaving our big guys without a body on them on the glass. It seems like Corey and Nigel can get to the basket at will, and are our best options on offense. I'm less concerned about our perimeter shooting if we're committed to the drive. Just need both guys to stay under control and avoid foul trouble from offensive fouls.

The Rutgers inside players failed to finish around the basket which gave Stony Brook control of the game for the first 35 minutes with their 3 point shooting.

I am with you. There is a 3 pt trend, but one thing that driving does that 3 pt does not do as much of is getting another player in foul trouble, and getting free throws. Two things RU needs to do to win.

We just have to watch the offensive fouls and boy if we had shooters we could kick the ball out at will and get a lot of looks. In the future!!

Stony Brook is one of the few teams this year who played man-to-man defense against RU, which allowed us to attack the rim. We should see a lot more man defense in conference play, so dribble penetration will likely be one of the keys to success going forward.
