Aundre Hyatt

I know that the crystal ball prediction on the TOS is a sham, but we just got a crystal ball prediction for Aundre Hyatt.

I like to think, that where there's smoke, there's fire....

LI what are your thoughts on Hyatt? Have you seen him play?

Thanks in advance

Really the only guy I would sign in the spring

Otherwise ...hold for class of 2019

He can do it all. What’s interesting about his situation is that he’s a 2019 thinking about reclassifying for 2018. So my guess is we can give him a scholarship now for 2019 and secure him and basically convert him to a 2018 when a spot opens which it hopefully will. Worse case, he’s a 2019 but my hope is that he’s here in 2018 if he commits?

There’s a few possibilities out there for spots in both 2018 and 2019. We desperately need a point guard and I hope it’s Mulcahy. We can lock him up for 2019 if he wants to commit. Valdir Manuel likes Rutgers and we need another big man but I’m not sure we can do anything just yet with him because he’s a 2018 so we have to wait. Not sure about Battle or other names out there. The bottom line is that there are very few spots. When were we ever in this position?

If two ships open up, I'd want him and Valdir. And hope Corey sticks.
Exactly. Hoping Corey sticks is a big one. I thought maybe we could get away with it but completely reversed my thinking now. Who would be our point guard unless we found a grad transfer which is very difficult. Lose Corey and that’s a priority for 2018.

I'd imagine if Corey leaves, they'd either chase Willis harder or go with Geo as primary PG.

This kid would do it. Corey stays and this kid comes early and we have an NCAA tournament team. Still need to catch some breaks to make it but the quality would be there.

Getting him at all would be amazing, but for ‘18 would be unbelievably good news for us.

Is he leaning our way?

He is not leaning to any particular school at the moment. Focused upon his season and whether he thinks it prudent to reclassify to 2018. He is from Mt. Vernon, NY and likes the RU staff. It is a long shot for RU but we at least have a puncher's chance if he has an interest in returning to the northeast for college. I would be concerned about UVA getting seriously involved.

Would be another huge step forward for our program. Hope he comes here and is able to reclassify ala Gregory Echenique.

Mt Vernon a great program over the years------numerous high end D-1 guys.

The McCray Brothers , Ray Williams and Earl Tatum back in the day .

He is leaning to the biggest Brown bag.

As much as there would be concern about other schools getting involved, there is momentum with the program generated by some home games like Florida State, Seton Hall and recent Big Ten wins like Wisconsin and Iowa.

These other schools at some point have their ships accounted for and there is an opportunity at RU to contribute and be an impact recruit, paired with another impact recruit like Mathis, Carter on the interior and a developing Ron Harper.....the play of Baker and Sanders becoming more consistent all help.

The RAC and student sections coming back into the fold and making home games an event, also give recruits the change they need to see developing.

Obviously seeing the practice facility ground breaking and other major moves also turns heads for the future. Hyatt will not be asked to carry the load, he'll share that culture change with others....There really isn't anything a player of his caliber gets elsewhere, that he cannot get closer to his home....the 20 game B1G schedule and B1G tournament, plus games like Seton Hall etc, is a challenge that gives a player something to shoot for. There will be no absence of positive press and "buzz" if Hyatt reclassifies and joins Mathis....and RU....

As I would hope he chooses Rutgers but there are big thing that a player of his caliber can get elsewhere is a almost guaranteed trip to the NCAAs and better facilities now like Oregon.

And I imagine the lack of passing by Rutgers, must be concerning to a highly rated perimeter player.

Just today I had a close family friend who’s nephew just played in the PAC-12 for 4 years complaining about how had they know then they would’ve chose a different school based on the offense not fitting best for his skills.

Pikiell will have to show him how he adjusted his offensive style based on who he had on his team. The offense this year is a bit different than it was last year. At Stony Brook, he relied on the 3 until he landed Warney in which case it turned into a team that pounded the ball inside.

Well, you certainly are a "half full" kind of guy if you are citing a November loss to Florida State in front of 4,800 and the RAC crowds as positives after we just had a long thread last week about an announced crowd of 4,000 for a conference game against Iowa with classes back in session!

Watching the Kentucky game and just now during the halftime interview Calipari lamented that the problem with his young team is that “they’re just not willing passers yet!”.

This is going to be something that Pike will have to convince elite perimeter recruits, that he’ll emphasize and demand passing just like he does defense & rebounding.
