up 1-0 middle of first ... Harris with 20th SB and a run scored :)

Checked in ... down 4-1 ... going my to check on softball ... 9-9 after regulation

Our team ERA is horrible. Hopefully our new freshman pitchers from Woodbridge and Verona can help our pitching staff. We don't strike out nearly as many batters as our opponents strike out our batters. We haven't had a real ace since Bobby Brownlie. I wish he was coaching our pitchers. He was amazing. I had him in class in 9th and 10th grade and what a great student he was and such a competitor in baseball, basketball & football. He was a first round draft choice and was one year on the front page of Baseball America when he was selected as the #1 amateur player in the country. The Star Ledger also selected him as the player of the year for high school baseball when he was a senior at Edison H.S.

Awesome strikeout and then throw out of a runner trying to steal double play! End of 7, RU by 3!!!! Think we're going to steal one on the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 out in 9th ... 2 run HR by Iowa ... RU leads 5-3 ... come on, dudes ... close it

This is nice to see. We are now 14-21. We should never have lost to Villanova, Rider or both games to SHU. If we had won 3 of those 4 games we would now be 17-18. We blew both games vs. SHU and Nova I think they were like 3-14 when they beat us. Rider we looked totally listless. I am not trying to ridicule our team but you must come to play every time you take the field. Hopefully we can gain a series win tomorrow. I want us to get to .500 but we must go like 14-6 the rest of the way. That will be tough but I suppose we must take each game one at a time. We have had problems with our mid week games. After tomorrow we have Villanova (again) and Columbia this week both at home.

And Herrman hit 93 out of the pen, struck out the Big Ten's best hitter with three nasty sliders to close it out.
I only saw about 85-88 with the closer must have missed some pitches. Just sa the at bat where heme threw 3 staight curves and hung the last one for 400+ shot

The 2 losses to SHU really hurt. We gave both games away. We need to really pull off a miracle to have a winning season. We have not played well at all in the week day games (losing to Rider & Nova). Today we play Nova if we are not rained out and hopefully tomorrow Columbia. We also have to make up 3 games at Minnesota and one with Monmouth. I just don't see where we will fit these games into the schedule. At least we are now 4-5 in league. Hopefully we can do well vs. Michigan this weekend. I thought we were going to finish above .500 overall last year and qualify for the BIG Tournament but we completely fell apart at the end of the season. It would be nice if we can pull things together this season as we come to the end.

Michigan series will tell us a lot about where this team is at. Iowa and Purdue series wins are big, but this team needs to play very good baseball the rest of the way. No more SHU, Nova, or Rider clunkers. This last stretch is big for the squad and Litterio's job security.

The midweek losses suck, but at this point I'm only concerned about conference play and making the B1G tournament. SHU takin two from us is not good, but the Iowa wins help ease the pain away a bit
