RU #s wants to give covid vaccines to newborns. guy should be put on the next Challenger outbound mission.
NimbersSan's "lane" is cutting&pasting articles that push his loopy beliefs system. He struggles with critical thinking though. To be fair, he also is considered a master grocery washer which came in handy during his chicomvirus panicking.

Yes, his loopy belief system based on science and evidence. What a tool. I get my science info from the My Pillow guy. I'm smart.

My Pillow guy? Weak.

But yeh it's all 'settled science'...like his chicomvirus and climate 'change' rants lol.
Don't say climate change. That's liberal propaganda. Of course we do need to deal with all the weird weather, flooding, droughts, mega storms that keep happening with increasing frequency, plan for threats to food production etc. But don't call it climate change!

Science is a great thing, they insist they are right until later proven wrong. Then they just quietly update their facts.

And the science showed the masks most people wore to be largely ineffective except for the N95 masks. The science even showed this during the 1918 pandemic as well. But they made everyone believe it was life or death if you don’t have your face covered.

So is there some better way to find out what is right than to admit when you are proven wrong and updating your facts? Who would you trust? Someone that never admits they are wrong (better to be wrong and strong!) and just digs in on the wrong thing they said even when they know it's wrong? I'll trust someone that is honest about what they know and what they don't know.

Also, "science" is different than the specific decisions made by elected and appointed officials. I for one thought the masking went on way to long and it pissed me off. We practically had to threaten our school with legal action to get them to open up in person, and the extended closure was extremely damaging to the kids IMO. That wasn't science. That was just bad and timid public policy and decision making.

This is mostly wrong. Surgical/cloth masks are used in hospitals because they work, especially for preventing doctors from infecting patients unknowingly. But they're imperfect depending significantly on how well they're worn and the type of virus/bacteria involved, with this latter point being critical for SARS-CoV-2.

The original strain was a bit more infectious than influenza, so surgical masks worked reasonably well to reduce transmissions in controlled situations. However, once the virus mutated to the omicron strains, which were 2-3X more infectious than the original strain, surgical/cloth masks and even N95 masks were significantly less effective in reducing transmissions, which was not a surprise. People keep overlooking the impact of the evolution of the virus and its impact on mask effectiveness.

This much greater infectiousness was also the key to the vaccines going from ~95% effective in preventing transmission to much less than that - but the take home point was that the vaccines still retained their most important advantage of preventing severe COVID/hospitalizations/death for the vast majority of people in stark contrast to the minimal protection unvaccinated people had, saving tens of millions of lives worldwide and 2-3MM in the US.

I'd deliver more scientific beatings to you if it were allowed, but it's not.

Keep dreaming. I linked my smackdown of you to a CE thread. You have access there. Here's another one on climate 'change'.

Bring it on lol.
Nope, have already argued all of those with you and destroyed you, as I have a much deeper understanding of both sciences than you'll ever have. The only thing you do is link weak conspiracy articles from Twitter. Oh wait, you use bold type sometimes, which is much more convincing than my use of the best science from the best experts published in the best scientific journals (having published more than a dozen scientific articles, myself, I think I know what the good journals/sources are).

Your scientifically illiterate conspiracy-mongering ilk is why we're on the brink of having RFK Jr become the antivaxxer in chief, which will result in tens of thousands of preventable deaths (and far more serious illnesses) from a host of childhood diseases that, until now, have been almost completely eliminated in the US thanks to vaccines, like polio, measles, whooping cough, pneumonia, etc. Worldwide, vaccines have averted an estimated 154MM deaths since 1974, one of the 3 biggest reasons life expectancy is so much higher than it was 100 years ago (clean water and antibiotics are the other two).

Since 1974, vaccination has averted 154 million deaths, including 146 million among children younger than 5 years of whom 101 million were infants younger than 1 year. For every death averted, 66 years of full health were gained on average, translating to 10·2 billion years of full health gained. We estimate that vaccination has accounted for 40% of the observed decline in global infant mortality, 52% in the African region. In 2024, a child younger than 10 years is 40% more likely to survive to their next birthday relative to a hypothetical scenario of no historical vaccination. Increased survival probability is observed even well into late adulthood.

Never happened. Is your brain fogging-up from too much asian pornhub? Again, bring your receipts. Still waiting.

Don't give up. Part of the makeup of know-nothing buffoons' is that they are inexhaustible. But you can't cede the stage to them.

Oh man!! This is on the verge of being closed for bringing up CE topics...and then we can't keep talking about Griffiths for the rest of year. Or we can, but we need to make a new thread, and I was so proud of this 10-page thread of the guy

I can cede the CE stage to them, since it's simply an echo chamber of conspiracy theories and scientific illiteracy with about 95% of posters in lockstep, meaning arguing those points is useless. I would argue them here, if allowed (and I regularly engage in debate on FB and other sites), since there are far more posters with open minds, who understand that science matters and evolves on every topic, but it's only allowed here for a few hours at a time until such threads get locked or deleted and the funny thing is I'm never the one to start the potshots on the pandemic.

blame in on Toby and BigRUmachinheadguy who "went there."
I’m the same. I will never bring politics into a basketball discussion or push my agenda. All who come in peace to talk RU sports are 100% safe from my political opinions. But if you start grinding your ideological axe outside the CE board I’m not going to let it slide unchallenged.

Nah, let them keep going. Eventually we'll find out that numbers likes something like midget porn too and then they'll debate which one is better...lol.
