Bergen Catholic freshman Chris Foca just knocked off Beast Champion Brandon Paetzell, 6-4.

Correnti wins 7-5, only RU commit to reach finals. Finals start in 2 hours.

The unknown BC freshman who beat Paetzal :
"Farro went for the throw, didn't get it, Foca takes him down for the pin at 5:40. Bergen Catholic unseeded freshman Christopher Foca is the Beast of the East champion at 132 pounds'

He takes out the 1 and 2 seeds , wow.

Also at 132, Paetzell beat Freeman again to place fifth.

Grello gets 3rd at 170-

'Joe Grello is going to win by injury default. His opponent is in serious pain. Looks like a broken leg.

No pin... Mulligan won in overtime.

Awesome win by Correnti. He looked gassed....that was a hell of a scramble on the edge of the mat.

one of our recruits looked good. rest didnot wrestle to their seed

Co MVPs- Chris Foca and Nick Suriano (all pins)- both from Bergen Catholic (who missed 2 starters), even though Blair won the team title, when both meet up in a dual later on, I think BC will win w 2 big starters back (Sr Dan DeLorenzi 220, going to Columbia for FB after accepting a Princeton offer to wrestle) AND 182 highly touted Redshirt freshman Josh Mckenzie, both recuperating from BC foot ball injuries.

No justification losing to a Freshmen but Foca is a prodigy that has been being developed for years. Kid is a stud and a very nice family. Will be a huge recruit. Has potential to be a 4x state champ.

Did you even watch the matches? or just going by results? This tourney is tougher at some weights than AC...Not a lot of separation between top kids..

Paetzall - seeded #1 finished 5th (lost to eventual champ in semis)
Grello - seeded #2 finishes 3rd
Mulligan - seeded #2 finishes 3rd (lost to eventual champ in semis)
Correnti - seeded #2 WINS

Really not too shabby. Im not thrilled with Paetzall's showing, but it is what it is. It seems he would've been better off just going at 126 and hopefully meeting Suriano in the final. Not sure I understand wrestling up a weight class where you are undersized.
