Butler led by 10 with 6 minutes left and 4 consecutive trips they settled for a three and missed all 4 times instead of taking the ball to the basket. They lost by 6 so they got outscored by 16 points over the last 6 minutes. SHU played outstanding over that stretch and I believe they earned a bid today.

Big choke my ass. We took it and with a short bench. First time we beat them in a league game.

SHU has had a knack for pulling out the close ones this year.

Delgado is a special player. Can't replace that guy when he leaves.

In the first half, Butler put on a shooting clinic hitting difficult contested shots just inside the three point arc. Seton Hall played good defense and had hands in their faces but the Butler players kept on making long contested shots. I guess the law of averages caught up with them late in the second half when they went ice cold in crunch time.

The choice of words will always tick off rivals especially instate.Seton Hall has talented players fully capable of upsetting opponents on the road which only enhances their NCAA resume.

It's a stretch but if duval ends up at SHU they could be ranked top 15 pre-season. That will really hype up the atmosphere.

HallX2, I think you are a bit too sensitive. I commended your team when I said "SHU played outstanding over that stretch and I believe they earned a bid tonight". I said that Butler choked and I believe they did. They shot 4-10 on 3's in the first half. With 6 minutes to go four straight trips they took a three and missed all four of them. They were up 10 and should have taken it to the basket as they had been for several minutes before that. They might have drawn some fouls. Their misses on the threes were not even that close. A team as #13 in the country should not get outscored by 16 points in the last 6 minutes. Seton Hall played great over those 6 minutes but I feel that Butler settled for threes. They only were 2-11 for threes in the second half which was 18.2 %. Delgado dominated down low and made the difference in the game.

I agree, poor choice of words by the OP. I watched much of that game and SHU stuck with their plan even when they were down by ten. And the fact they did with only six players was nothing short of impressive.

With that said, I have gone over to your board a few times, and you sir, "have diminished yourself" with petty and unnecessary comments about Rutgers. We know we lack talent. We know we've been in perpetual rebuild because of the horrible coaching decisions made by our school. But we played you tough in your house. Just remember that.

Seton Hall played 8 guys not 6. Delgado, Carrington, Rodriguez, Jones, Powell, Nzei, Anthony and Gordon all played in the game and they are all on scholarship. We played last year many games with only 7 guys and even one game we only had 6 when Lewis was out. We only had 11 on scholarship and Doorson missed the entire season, Diallo missed 18 games, Freeman missed 25 games, Laurent missed 5 games and Lewis missed 1 game and he could hardly walk in several others after 3 knee operations.

Ok. I retract my petty comment regarding ur title. I would say that not every squandered lead is a choke job. More often than not the road team folds like a cheap umbrella when down late in a loud environment. CBB is very much a game of momentum and runs. U could tell from the opening half that the Hall wanted it. Their run came in perfect timing with the buzzer.

Willard has done an outstanding job with SHU getting them to make a late season push after it looked they were headed out of the tournament. That was a big win yesterday in a tough spot that probably locks them in the tournament. I will say that the top of the BE besides Nova has come back to the middle. Lot of people knocking the Big 10 for not having a dominant team and that is true although teams 1-9 are pretty good. The Big East has turned into Nova and everybody else...lots of pretty good teams but the bloom is off teams like Butler, Creighton, and of course Xavier

Strongly disagree on Butler they are 23 and 7 with wins over Northwestern ,Arizona,Vandy,Cincinnati, Villanova twice with an rpi of 12 what more do you want them to do. Just because they lost to Seton Hall who along with Providence and Nova were the hottest team in the Big east over the second half of the schedule at 7 and 2 does not mean they came back to the pack. Creighton and X had major injury's to their point guards it happens. Creighton has been able to recoup a little X I think is in trouble. Maybe they can get hot again in the Big East tournament who knows. Think they may need to beat Butler to make the tournament.

I think SHU punched their ticket with that win this weekend. Will never be a fan but grudgingly will give them respect when earned.
