The 17 year old kid and his family produced a video in time square. They sought out attention and made his commitment a very public event. The problem with attention is, once you get it you are stuck with it whether it is good are bad. They created a media circus, and they still have peoples attention. Now maybe they realize how the game goes, and everyone is supposed to move on?
They wanted this attention with there big video, they got it.

Well said. It is very clear that not all coaches and programs are built the same. And not all coaches promises and "sale pitches" can be believed in the same manner.
And not to pile on Butch Jones, but between the Marques Ford situation and now this Guarantano situation, Jones isn't exactly looking great.
Granted, this is the world of college football recruiting and I do not know what he said and what he promised behind closed doors to these kids/families. I say this because without that information you can't really condemn Butch because maybe he was upfront the whole time.
Honestly though, my gut feeling about him always was that he was kind of shady and then after the Ford situation it confirmed that for me. And as for this JG situation, I am waiting to see how things shake and what quotes come out about what was promised during the recruiting process.
