BK, could you let the kids know this?

Some of us are very proud of the way they are battling in every game right up until the end. I brought a PSU fan with me to the game yesterday. He commented afterward how impressed he was with the fight our players showed, giving a special shout-out to Williams.

I could see the disappointment on their faces at the end, but they have nothing to be ashamed of. If you give the best you have, you can hold your head high. IMO they played like real men. People who have been on both sides of the issue fully understand the situation.

If these guys attack the off-season with the kind of effort they have shown since the 50 point debacle, good things will happen next year.

PSU fan here and I agree. With how shorthanded this Rutgers squad is, I really thought that they might mail it in after getting down big early. But they still showed something battling back with that run late in the 1st half and early in the second. As a PSU hoops fan, I've seen plenty of seasons with our team having to play out the string in February-March while overmatched night in and night out, and it sucks. But seems like Jordan is really trying to do things the right way, and I hope that he has success.

I was disappointed in the student support for Rutgers yesterday. Though there were plenty of empty seats elsewhere, the crowd did come alive for a bit there as Rutgers made their run. I always thought of the RAC as a really tough place to play for a road team, but it's obvious that the losses have taken their toll on student turnout. It's the same crappy chicken-egg thing that we've faced at PSU forever, where bringing recruits into an empty and cavernous BJC doesn't help to sell the program, but fans/students don't want to turn out until we start winning. Rinse and repeat.

As an aside, got a chance to walk around campus for a bit after the game (the Livingston campus). That part of campus reminded me a bit of PSU and I enjoyed it. I had never been up to Rutgers of the RAC before, enjoyed it and couldn't have asked for a much nicer day in February.

I guess everyone gets a trophy for trying now. Please, spare me.

Sorry Jim do you realize how many minutes some of these kids are playing? there is no one on the bench and Lewis is playing on a bad knee. I am not happy with this season but that is the way it is. In the NBA you can sign someone to a 10 day contract. There is no one we can add to the team. Laurent has played some center this year.

I agree w/ you about the effort and fight this team shows, and they can hold their heads up high in that respect. But I'm not sure I see good things happening next year based on offseason efforts... effort just isn't the issue right now.

I agree...i am proud the guys hustled and made it close vs PSU

They deserve a win.....
QUESTION
WITH Cory do we win vs PSU?

By the way Wake has their best player out and Wake is beating BC 25-2 with like 8 minutes to go in first half. They are really bad.

man--why are there so many unhappy people around here--geez get a life --loyal just trying to support players and you make it into something else--by the way have you given to the build fund yet?

Whatever bro. I'm tired of the f*cking losing and want things to get better.

I'm sorry if I don't believe trying hard deserves kudos. They're D1 athletes. They're supposed to try! Bare minimum.
+1
Trying is the bare minimum.

You guys are brutal. Do you remember last year when the Mets put out a team with a bunch of minor leaguers on the field.? Pitchers kicked ass and they lost 1-0 and 3-1 every day. Then they bought talent and brought up Conforto and they won. I guarantee you they were playing hard in both cases but after a while of getting beaten up your body language turns sour. Same thing here. Eddie has one more year with his guys to make an impact. If it doesn't work he goes . If they win the excitement and sense of urgency on the floor and in the stands will happen

These kids are playing hard, yes. Would love to see them get a win to reward their efforts, but let's be honest, it's not like RU is losing by 6 or less every night.

No they aren't but even some of the PSU fans were impressed by their tenacity in spite of not having more than 1 true D1 player on the floor. This year is a bust just like football was. I know most years at the RAC are a bust but I will wait one more year after waiting since '76 for something to happen to excite us..

A walk on played yesterday, did you expect him to score 14 points with 10 assists?

Trying hard does not deserve kudos.
And how many teams would still be trying hard if they only had 7 players and had lost so many in a row?
Most would have packed it in.

You're tired of the losing - boo hoo.
You don't think the kids are playing to the best of their abilities and giving it everything they have?
What else do you want them to give?

You can blame the coach if you want, but the players can be praised for not quitting.

I'm sorry, but your post shows you to be an a hole.

Not giving up deserves credit , losing the blame should go to the coach.
Some are tired of losing and have gave up on the team. I feel for you.
But I think the players are tired of losing and I give credit to their not mailing it in
and trying their best.
Want to ignore the players trying their best to win but falling short . sometimes by a large margin, maybe it's time to turn pro and blame the pro players for every loss and not care if their doing their best. College players , most of them, deserve the support of the fanbase and the coaches are the ones you should ignore their effort if they try but still lose.

To those that won't give the RU MBB players credit for trying, you earn this for your contributions

If I thought the players had packed it in or given up, I'd have done the same as a fan, but I still go to the games and support the team b/c they deserve it. The guys play hard till the end, and however much we want to see a win, they want it 10x more. NOT saying that I'm happy where this team is at by any stretch, or that we should hand out participation trophies, but the guys do deserve some credit and recognition for not backing down b/c right now that's the only thing left in their control.

As a group I can somewhat buy in to the original premise. Individually I have a tough time praising effort to all. We still haven't held an opponent to under 1 point per possession in B1G play. It seems that we always have 2-3 guys in the game who just aren't engaged enough on the defensive end.

Hey guys like you and the only other poster who liked your post put their money down and demand wins with no excuses. Of course D1 athletes are supposed to respond like machines, they are not to be considered human with deficiencies, imperfections and limitations just the rest of humanity. I for one am very proud of their efforts and I am very much against participation awards and the like even when it comes to youth sports. Doesn't mean we can't give the young men credit for their tremendous efforts and sacrifices for our men's basketball program.

I give them a similar message every time I get a chance. It is always appreciated and respected. Please know that while so many here have given up on them, they haven't given up on themselves....as easy as that would be if they spent 5 seconds reading the crap that passes for "knowledge" around here

Scholarships are precious and Rutgers has wasted them over the years with squads full of project type players. They have been a bottom tier program in the Big East,AAC,and the B1G.The inability to recruit players comparable to the league opposition has stifled the program and made it totally lacking relevance. Some fans continue to believe that by snapping your fingers all the misery will go away .It hasn't happened for the last two decades and won't happen in the future until a head coach is hired who can actually improve the performance with mediocre talent and simultaneously have the cache to inspire top tier recruits to choose Rutgers .The clock is ticking for shovels in the ground for the new practice facility because Jordan or any other head coach has nothing to sell in the meantime.

Well said........The crap on this board that passes for "knowledge".

Please......kids are expected to play 100%. They are getting a free ride. I expect nothing less. How many years of shit basketball are we going to watch? These newbie fans haven't been around the past 25 years supporting the team watching it go to competitive to teams that can't compete with a local rec team.

Do you realize how tired some of these kids are because their is no bench. Gee, some of you people.

Go after the coaches not the players that give their all.
25 years of shit basketball falls on the coaches and ADs, not the players that do the best they can
Not caring about players effort belongs in the pro game, RU fans should be proud RU MBB players have no quit in them.
Even if their over-matched and have been for 25 years.
