Perhaps writing directly to CCP with a professionally worded complaint about what happened and how you plan to take it up with Rutgers Athletics would be equally or more effective:Ugly. The Athletic Department should apologize, make it up to you, and investigate why the open spaces in the Blue Lot were not utilized.
Country Club Parking (CCP) has the parking contract, and it is on them.
They usually do a decent job, but the Athletic Department needs to fix this issue with CCP.
See? Ash was good as something! He did not oversell the lots!!! 😉I think it was Ash's performance that undersold the lots.
One year a long time ago (during the Flood years) we had a guy known as the "parking Nazi". He was terrible.
I think I know who you're talking about: his actions for the Notre Dame game ended up with us losing 2 people from our tailgate.
We had an incident like that in the Black Lot years ago.Perhaps writing directly to CCP with a professionally worded complaint about what happened and how you plan to take it up with Rutgers Athletics would be equally or more effective:

Same EXACT thing happened to me. Worst part was that 3 cars had left while I was sitting there in disbelief so I argued that means there are 3 extra spaces and the traffic cop said they have not received approval to let anyone enter. So I had to make a u-turn, sit in traffic going the opposite direction to arrive at the very same lot I had driven past 45 minutes earlier. Then, of course, the distance to the stadium is probably twice the blue lot so my party didn’t make it to our seats until the second quarter. Total fiasco. Complete incompetence. I’ve had season tickets for 18 years and donate every year. If RU doesn’t step up and make this right I’m done. I’ve got a hard enough time making it to RU games with my kid’s activities eating up weekends so when I finally get the whole family together out to a game and have to deal with that parking mess I don’t need the aggravation.Very frustrating experience yesterday and poor job by game day ops. I have had season tickets for almost 20 years now and have parked in the Blue lot for the majority of that time with my Dad who has had tickets since '76. Due to my son's football practice we were only able to get to the lot ~30min prior to kickoff, later then we would prefer but should still give us enough time to get in our seats, eat and get settled prior to kickoff. As we sit through normal traffic including busses and fans crossing we come to a complete stop with about 6 cars in front of the Blue lot entrance. Nobody is moving. After what felt like 20mins the police officers start turning cars back, one-by-one people are now making u-turns in the middle of the road and heading away from the stadium only to sit in more traffic as they backtrack. As we approach we are told the lot is full and we need to head back to the tan lot which is a pretty far hike back. Completely unacceptable for a lot we prepaid for. What got us even more fired up was walking through the Blue Lot and seeing plenty of spaces to park cars.
This is how you lose fans.
I feel for you.. seriously. But as a 20 year participant you should know by now that Rutgers game day operations.. especially the parking process has had more than its share of glusterfracks.Very frustrating experience yesterday and poor job by game day ops. Case in point..River road at 287 is compressed to 1 lane from 3 as you approach the entrance to RT. 287 .
I've had that issue too, and on top of that there's been times in the black lot where I would have loved if people's tailgates would only take up parking spaces. Multiple times there were a ton of tailgates spilled out into the area between the rows of parking spots so that nobody could drive through. I was considering bringing it up, but I was worried that they'd go overboard and we'd end up with the same issues they used to have in the overpoliced blue/yellow lots. This should never happen. In black I’ve seen people tailgate in parking spots which 1) if you do that you’re an ahole and 2) should be policed End of rant.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't remember that. How would that work anyway though? Like if your spot is only guaranteed up to an hour before kickoff, does that mean people without a pass for that lot can then park there? Doesn't seem like this is correct.I thought I remembered reading on the website a number of years ago that your parking spot was only guaranteed up to a certain time before kick-off? Anyone else recall that? Also, I'm not saying it's right.
No, I don’t think so. I thought it was more a CYA for situations like the OP encountered.I've had that issue too, and on top of that there's been times in the black lot where I would have loved if people's tailgates would only take up parking spaces. Back to the original topic though, the other day I was one of the first tailgaters to arrive in the black lot. There were tons of cars already parked there, presumably students or campus staff I assume. I'm confused as to how they could possibly know how many black lot spaces are available since they don't know exactly how many cars are going to be parked there for non-football purposes, and then the jackasses taking up multiple spots with their tailgate just makes this even more of a gamble.

How in the world is that ok? I’m all about having a good time at a tailgate, but you gotta be kidding me that a players family took up 8 spots for a giant tent and nothing was done about it.part of the blue lot problem was the front of the blue lot still had mud pits, so there was a good 15-20 spots that could not have cars. Then a player family set up a giant tent taking 4-6 spots & Parking argued with them that spots were for cars not for tents but somehow lost that argument, they then made them move it off of the fence for an unknown reason which then meant they had a tent in 8 spots. So close to 30 spots in the first 3 rows were not used.
black and purple lot for many years have had cars parked for students of school activities'- at the MSU game large section of purple was being used for swim meet...then very difficult for those individuals to leave. at 11;30.....I've had that issue too, and on top of that there's been times in the black lot where I would have loved if people's tailgates would only take up parking spaces. Was it determined if said party paid for the 8 spots they took up?
In theory you could pay for 8 parking passes but only bring a few vehicles which I guess entitles you to 8 spaces.I heard him arguing about paying for spots but I'm not positive. @DJ Spanky was right next to them. He might know
Your point? You guys make it sound like this ONLY happens at Rutgers.

the regs say you must have a vehicle in your spot, so no, that should not be allowed to happen.
Parking allowed the same thing for one other game, @DJ Spanky can remind us which one. A frat set up a tent that covered at least 8 spots. (they did, however, provide much comic relief as it was pretty much a tent from Ikea with about 200 pieces of piping that had to be put together to make the frame)
Proves that some guys and gals are only tough on the Internet. Why was nothing done about it? Why didn’t anyone go and get tough with the teams family about doing the right thing? That’s right because they were right there in front of you no hiding behind a screen.

If Rutgers did just a little planning this can all be avoided. Rutgers probably has a few extra line painting machines lying around on campus somewhere. Why not the day before pay someone to paint lines X feet apart starting at the front where peoples bumpers should go. Painting lines of ingress and egress areas. Then on game day, having the parking attendants at least do some work by making sure everyones bumper is reasonably on the line and making sure cars are properly spaced. This is not rocket science people the details make a differnce.WTF are you talking about? We are tailgaters. Not RU employees. Not RPD or any other PD employee. Not CCP employees. Who are we to tell someone else what to do? No our job
Yet these issues bother some so much that they will write a letter about it lol. The time to act was when the issue was happening or if you’re too scared get the police to handle it. Oh no we hate the police and talk shit about them as well when they were just doing their jobs in the lots enforcing the laws. Let’s just call people names on the internet.
Another idea that’s been suggested before in the past.🙂If Rutgers did just a little planning this can all be avoided. Unless, of course, the parking staff is responsible for shuttling their staff from a remote lot. Then their shuttle bus and driver arrives when the staff arrives. It CAN be done that way. And selling only the amount you can safely park can also be done... allowing for the parking staff cars as well. Just takes effort and competency. The parking staff gets there at 4am. No one is shuttling them anywhere at that hour.

I don’t have any issues in the scarlet lot thank You very much. Underage drinking is a problem and many underage drivers get behind the wheel and kill people so you want the police to just police what you consider important? And never mind anything else. Nurses who don’t like cops hmmm did a cop break your heart a long long long long time ago?again, NOT any tailgaters job to enforce RU/CCP rules.
Also, cops aren't there at 6:30am even if anyone wanted to get the cops involved.
And, lastly, the cops, when they did patrol the lots, were not just "enforcing the laws" they were (a) making up their own rules (you must have room for an ATV to get through the rows) or (b) actively looking to give out tickets (by 1. having their ticket books filled out in advance except for the name of the accused and 2. by walking up to people sitting and doing nothing and asking about what was in their red solo cup)
so just stop, sit back and stop posting about things you clearly know zero about.
I just don't understand Rutgers small time mentality. It would take a paid employee and two students to paint the parking lot lines maybe a day. The hard part is spacing of the lines and even with modern technology makes that part of the job easy. Six months ago I bought a laser level. Its a cheap chinese one but so far it has done everything I have needed it for. Framing out a bathroom, hanging pictures, putting in railroad tie stairs outdoors and more.Another idea that’s been suggested before in the past.🙂
They could even just make a rule to set expectations better... your lot pass is valid up to 30 minutes before kickoff. You arrive to the lot later than 30 minutes before kickoff and you may be turned away to an alternate lot.If I am reading correctly, the only lot that turned people away was Blue and the only lot that had a loss of 30+ parking spots in the front 2 rows was Blue
how many parking staff cars does anyone think is actually in the lot? I don't think there is more than 12, up against the back rope, for any given game. there are 2 down by the port-a-potties letting people through that end to get into the Rodkin lot.
sticking to the rules of you need a car in your spot and not a giant double sized, double wide tent, and filling in the mud pits with gravel/straw/hay so people can park would be way more helpful in the Blue lot.
I did not know that there were lines already painted. Normally I am in the purple lot, but was in the blue for the OSU game. I saw a lot of open spaces at the back of the lot when I left to walk to the stadium at about 11:30pmthere are lines painted, in orange, every game. it's supposed to indicate where the nose (or tail if you back in) of your car is supposed to go. It's measured out to give enough room for the next row of cars to park & have room to tailgate.
having them measure out actual parking spots would probably help, but that sounds like a lot of manpower hours and dollars that no one is going to commit to.
This is the first time in literally years, that there has been this issue. I don't know what happened in the rest of the lot, but I've pointed out that at least 30 spots in the first 3 rows were lost to mud/tailgate tent. People are usually pretty good about parking close together as far as I can see when I walk around
Pretty sure I have seen that on the SK website in the past. I searched the other day and could not find it.They could even just make a rule to set expectations better... your lot pass is valid up to 30 minutes before kickoff. You arrive to the lot later than 30 minutes before kickoff and you may be turned away to an alternate lot.
Make that clear and print it on the purchase agreement and passes and that's that. I expect these decisions to close a lot might have more to do with whoever is making that decision doing so for personnel issues. Like, I manage this lot and I have to go into the game. Shut it down. I do not know this happens.. but people in yellow and blue have said it looked like there was plenty of room in the back. So there may be other reasons to shut down a lot.

But if you say your spot is only guaranteed until a certain time, you end up with the same issue if everyone heeds that warning and shows up before that time. They could even just make a rule to set expectations better... your lot pass is valid up to 30 minutes before kickoff. Maybe not if the correct number of spots are sold to begin with. But if you say your spot is only guaranteed until a certain time, you end up with the same issue if everyone heeds that warning and shows up before that time.
